Friendly's — Restaurant in Metuchen

This place needs to be shut down..or completely renovated..new staff who take pride in what they do and food and prices need to be upgraded or adjusted..when I first got there..the girl who greeted us told us the bathroom was out of order there was a plumbing/pipe situation..we agreed to stay i had been wanting Friendlys for a while..but of course the first thing a person does on a long drive from new york to new jersey is use the restroom before and/or after..but we dealt with it..it took soooooo long for someone to come and ask us for our drinks and appetizers there are 4 people working 2 waiters a cook and the girl behind the counter..there were about 4 tables of people who were already seated and eating..so it wasn't busy at all..after we placed our drinks and appetizers the guy who waited us asked us if we wanted to place our food as well..I ordered mozzarella sticks as a app that was fine..boneless chicken wings 5 puny little chickens for 10 something and doesn't come with fries..chicken quesadilla with fries..he put it as a appetizer instead of an entree..so my quesadilla came without peppers and no fries..i couldnt get ahold of the waiter to correct him of my order because he was too busy chatting it up with other 2 behind the counter at this point about 5 to 6 more tables filled up.. 2 father's and theirs son walk in another 2 people another 6 people joined the father and sons (baseball league) and another 6 people are being seated ..finally after getting the guys attention I told him about the quesadilla..I had to place 2 orders of fries to accompany the meals..when the plate of fries comes I was in shocked of how little they serve.. 2 of those plates of fries feeds one person..i ordered a side of Mac want I got was dry boxed Kraft Mac and cheese from the kids menu instead of the regular mac and cheese..I was like what is going on..people were leaving cause they weren't being attended to..the orders were wrong..the waiters were constantly being called by other people from different tables and the food could have been way better..after all said and done..the waiter made a adjustment on my recipe..but 50 something dollars for the little amount of food we got was insane..I dont care how much I pay when I go out and get food..but I was better off going to apple bees 2 for 25 with an appetizer and you have food left over for the next day or mc donalds 5 dollar meals with fries a burger nuggets and a soda you get full of that..Sorry to say but that was definitely my last visit..hate to see the bussiness fall but honestly the only thing holding it up is the ice cream..Very disappointed and hope...

EDIT 6/13/23: I filled out the survey with the link provided to me by the comment below the DAY IT WAS POSTED yet NOTHING has happened. beware that this comment is a lie that is only meant as damage control. nothing was done to remedy my situation. no one has reached out to me and i requested to be contacted. extremely poor customer service on a corporate level as well…

6/6/23: i had an incredibly horrible experience here. i understand that businesses can be understaffed but that is now excuse to be blatantly rude to customers. to begin with, my partner and i had to sit ourselves at a table because no one could walk us. i wasn't too upset because i get that friendly's in general is struggling but the problem lies within the service i received today.

to begin with, our server was extremely rude. not once did she greet us with a smile or even ask how the food was. when i asked for water initially, she told me it was charged. i tried to not make it a big deal but upon asking another employee i discovered that the water was free. my server glared at me and said she had told us thought initially... i felt so incredibly horrible at that moment. this crossed a line.

i accidentally knocked over my water and it spilled entirely on my partner and i's laps. not only did we have to clean it up ourselves, which would have been fine if someone had at least offered to help, but the employees stood and watched. no one even offered any other paper towels for us, real nice... the server then came and took the plate and said i'll just take this. she didn't even ask if we were okay or needed anything. the restaurant was certainly not busy and i felt like such a problem... i really really felt like a nuisance at this restaurant when i made a perfectly normal mistake. and again, it was a dining out experience yet i still had to clean up everything. i mean, i literally had to wipe down and clear the table myself. i'm not a snotty person... i work as a food runner so i know how the food service industry is... but no one should have to bus their own table when they are already paying a ridiculous amount of money for overpriced food.

not to mention, the food was completely microwaved and lacking in any sort of flavor. a complete waste of $30 and certainly not worth the time spent there to be walking around without so much as a "thank you" or "have a nice day." i wasn't even greeted either... never coming here ever again and i SERIOUSLY discourage anyone from making this mistake. i had ordered Chicken Noodle Soup, chicken quesadillas, and my partner ordered the...

I can say that my family and I won't be back. We walked in and sat ourselves due to no one doing so. When the waitress came to our tables (I am a mother of 5 and my mother was there as well so we occupied 3 booths, & the booths were quite small) she seemed as if she didn't want to wait on us. She then says "did you look over the menu?" Mind you in order for us to have looked over the menus they would have had to have beeqn given to us, which they never were. The server is supposed to give them to you when they seat you. But remember we had to seat ourselves after waiting up front to be seated longer than expected. Not to mention we didn't have not one menu in front of us which was pretty obvious to see. The whole time she acted as if she did not want to wait on us and it seemed as if it were due to a race reason. I hate to say it because everything isn't about race and everyone isn't racist. But I have to say that when the other individuals that were not my color came in they got way better care then we did. They were properly seated and treated like they were welcome. They didnt receive the stares. Secondly, now I've been to numerous restaurants and as a person whom has been to plenty of restaurants a lot of waitresses always remember your order and remember who ordered what but this waitress did not know who ordered whatever they ordered and was passing things to the wrong person and just said whatever about it literally said "whatever".
