I recently had the pleasure of dining at Meximodo, and I must say, it was an absolute fiesta for the senses! From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was transported to the vibrant streets of Mexico, with warm colors, lively music, and the mouthwatering aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine filling the air. I can't help but rave about my incredible experience at this fantastic restaurant!
Let's start with the star of the show: the food. Meximodo takes pride in its commitment to serving genuine Mexican dishes, and boy, does it deliver! The menu is a treasure trove of culinary delights, offering an extensive selection of traditional favorites and innovative twists. The flavors were bold, vibrant, and perfectly balanced, showcasing the true essence of Mexican cuisine. I was particularly impressed with the quality and freshness of the ingredients used, which elevated the dishes to a whole new level. My favorite: Pollo con Mole.
To complement the exquisite flavors, Meximodo offers an impressive array of drinks. Their margaritas are simply divine, crafted with precision and care to deliver the perfect balance of sweetness and tang. From classic lime to exotic fruit-infused variations, each sip was like a mini vacation in a glass. The 1,000 tequila selection was also top-notch, with a range of premium options to satisfy even the most discerning connoisseur. Whether you're in the mood for a refreshing cocktail or a smooth tequila shot, Meximodo has you covered!
Now, let's talk about the service. The staff at Meximodo are the epitome of hospitality. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm. The waitstaff was knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate about their craft, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The service was prompt and efficient, without ever feeling rushed, allowing me to relax and savor each moment.
One aspect that truly sets Meximodo apart is its commitment to affordability. Despite the high quality of the food, drinks, and service, the prices are incredibly reasonable. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that offers such exceptional value for money, making it accessible to a wide range of diners. Whether you're planning a casual weeknight dinner or a special celebration, Meximodo offers an incredible experience that won't break the bank.
In conclusion, Meximodo is a hidden gem in Metuchen that deserves all the praise it receives. Its authentic Mexican cuisine, tantalizing drinks, impeccable service, and affordable prices combine to create an unforgettable dining experience. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreI hate being the one to write a bad review, but honestly this place deserves it. Walking in the restaurant, you are greeted with nice decorations, good music, clean looking bar, and some nice outdoor seating. But that's the only reason I didn't give this place a one star. I had a party of 9 people, and we were seated in a corner that was hidden from the rest of the restaurant. Our server Michaela K. seemed like she prioritized other tables around us, so it was a long wait inbetween Everytime she came to the table. I think a lot had to do with the fact that we were being charged an automatic 20% gratuity for having 6 or more people. So at the end of the day, she knew that she was getting a great tip regardless. If I could have tipped less, I would have. Food wise, the place was mediocre. The mexi smash burger was dry, small, fries were soggy. Comparable to the quarter pounder from McDonald's, except it cost $21. We also had the hanger carne asada, which lacked flavor. It tasted like it wasn't even seasoned with salt and pepper. It was cooked to a perfect temperature, just no flavor. Not worth $39, I've had better steaks than that for less money. Next we had chicken tacos, and steak tacos... And boy let me tell you, you are better off getting a box of frozen taquitos from 711 than paying $12 for two little tacos that can barely feed a 5 year old. I was shocked to see how small the tacos were. Smaller than the palm of your hand. cocktails were ok, nobody had any complaints about it. They had a nice presentation and tasted good. In the end, an elderly woman sitting on a high chair next to us, had fallen from the chair and slammed her head on the floor, and guess what? Staff did nothing about it. They let her get up on her own and walk out of the restaurant. Nothing was done with their check, nothing was done to ensure she was OK. I don't even think the manager came by to check on her. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Anyways, we got our check and paid, only to find out that they had charged us for extra order of tacos that we never got. We only realized it when we got home, so I will be calling to get my money back on those tacos. We were there celebrating a friend's birthday, and when we asked for them to sing for him, they didn't bring out any dessert for him. They came over, handed him a sparkler, sang for 5 seconds, and left. We were all in shock that no dessert was given. It's obvious this place doesn't care about it's customers, they only care about putting money in their pockets.
Will I ever return to this place.? Probably not. Bottom line, you can get better food, for a cheaper...
Read moreWell, thanks to Instagram reels and recent news across the portal about- 'this Metuchen restaurant is getting the Guinness World Record for having the most tequilas' – so, I had to try this... One thing in the restaurant is sure to capture your attention first – the towering bar brimming with more than 1,000 tequilas, mezcals, and agave spirits around a Day of the Dead mural.
It is a bold and modern Mexican restaurant rooted in classical Mexican cooking. The design mixes vibrant colors, rich textures, and crafted details for a unique and fun dining experience.
It is also listed in many blogs as one of the best new restaurants in the state to try.
We had a reservation so we got the table in no time and settled quickly against a beautiful background. We ordered-
Complimentary tostada with 4 different types of sauce: it was good except for a couple of sauces.
Street Style Corn: grilled corn puree with other cream/sauce/corn. Good one. Go for it.
Shrimp Taco & Chicken (Pollo) Taco: Both tacos were good, had good flavor, sauces, and veggies, and well-cooked shrimp & chicken so I would rate it higher.
Enchiladas: it was already $21 listed and adding chicken was an extra $6. Had enchiladas filled up with chicken, it would have made sense, but they just sprinkled on top of it. Taste wise- okay 3/5
Pollo Con Mole: not sure why it's the chef’s favorite. Chicken breast pieces with rice, yes sauce is something different but it was an ordinary dish for me. Nothing special about it.
Food wise: except for Tacos, it was just an okay experience for me. Understood you are well versed in drinks, but can you focus more on food as well? I would suggest, including more items in the food menu. I understand you got a Guinness award for drinks, but I found the menu is more about drink, and less about food. Also work on how it can be improved, taste-wise. I did not find anything special about taste. mediocre food
It’s 3/5 IMO.
Ambiance: well, no doubt it's top-class. A special mural is the center of attraction. Superb decor, beautiful design, high ceilings, bar setup, beautiful frames, chairs, tables…
Service: well, it was top-notch. I guess they knew how busy they were and wanted to serve everyone so the moment you got settled, they immediately came with the menu, and even it took no time to bring our appetizers & main course. Everything was quick.
Parking: You can park in the garage behind the restaurant. The restaurant will validate that.
Overall it's 3/5, but hey let's appreciate the vibe/decor/ambiance/service, so an extra star for that... So for...
