This is a really great stretch of genuine nature in an urban neighborhood, its a place I value so much for walking biking and taking out my dog who absolutely loved going their and had so many great memories, its so beautiful all year round and genuinely incredible to see changing throughout the seasons. Not to mention, the abundance of plant, fungi an wildlife within the first half, white tailed deer crossing, musk turtles and big bull frogs, a mallard couple who are always around somewhere if you can spot them all within the creeks, grey squirrels an chipmunk’s running around and a huge variety of insects and arachnids flying around and hidden in plain site if you get a chance to stop an look. Plus theirs so many different colonies of shelf fungi lining fallen trees its like no where else this easily accessible to see such diversity with what I know are turkey tails, false turkey tails, sternum facturnm and a few species of polypores, with botany wise these big beautiful patches of duck weed in the creeks either side, I still can’t get over seeing them every time I go.

Its honestly a great place to spend time alone, with family or friends and even meet new people. Ive had so many great conversations with strangers out their that as someone who has anxiety’s issues its honestly on of the best local places to push yourself and meet new people.

I love biking the greenway so so much but do be mindful it is a limited pathway and it can be busy in the morning to mid day so please be respectful of those walking and dogs. As a walker and a biker Ive had few instances of people coming up behind me with out signaling and I personally think thats pretty rude as it can be startling so be mindful and just make a kind call out to those ahead of you. If your training for a cycling event I would recommend trying to do it in the later hours, 4-7pm in the spring an summer when the pathways less populated because it will be much easier for you and Ive done rides for just endurance and speed within those hours and its much much...

It’s nice to see a “greenway” created for the community. It’s unfortunate that it’s planned, and designed so poorly. First, The pathway is narrow that it becomes hazardous to cyclists, walkers, and runnners… not to mention anyone walking their dog. 2nd, the greenery, and landscaping is poorly maintained with lots of poison ivy and stagnant water runoffs. 3rd, it’s so poorly designed that it doesn’t utilized connecting the “greenway” to the other parks such as Roosevelt park. Then it goes through Metuchen’s Main st. where restaurants, cafes, and store fronts are easily accessible by foot, but not if you’re on a bicycle coming from the greenway. Good luck carrying your bike 3 stories up the staircase. Maybe cut out before Main Street, to use Amboy Ave? Good luck, cars use this road as a local highway, and the town barely has any crossWalk to the other side. Not even a flashing Ped X walk for the kindergarten school. This greenway is a good example on how a bike/walk/run pathways is poorly designed. It’s the most minimal effort a county can put on creating something for...

The Middlesex Greenway is a walking path at best. The scenery is its best quality. I admired the lush canopy of trees that spanned over the path for most of the way as I cycled the entire paved section of the Greenway. It was populated mostly by pedestrians who lazily strolled along. That’s what the path is for, so I have no complaints there, except that a good number of these peoples seemed to have little-to-no knowledge of trail etiquette. Many walked on the left hand side of the path. I encountered a duo at one point who each walked on complete opposite sides of the path. I encountered a couple large groups who nearly took up most of the fairly wide path. I suppose my issue with the Middlesex Greenway was not with the path itself but with those who chose to use it. I can’t say I will return with my bicycle any time soon and I caution any serious cyclist thinking of having a pedal on the Middlesex Greenway to be wary of the lack of etiquette displayed by the...

Great place for Metuchen, Edison residents for an evening walk. The walkpath is 3 miles long one side. I heard this was an old railroad that was transformed to a walkpath. The walkpath is covered with trees in most places and is nice and shady for an evening walk. I have seen variety of birds, deer, fox, rabbit, groundhog and ducks in this trail. The bridge across US1 highway is a fun place for kids. Couple of things I feel needs to improve in the greenway. 1. There needs to be a kids park somewhere in the middle 2. There needs to be some restriction on speeding bikers. Some of them are riding superfast, and if a kid starts running, they get annoyed. I think they feel it is their racetrack

At present (Jan 2023), there is a small art exhibit created from recyled traffic signs. These animal themed art would have been more effective to raise environmental awareness if messages like #FriendsNotFood, #peacebeginsonyourplate, #GoVeganForThePlanet were part of the artwork. Hope this art stays there as long as possible. I also suggest that this theme or similar exhibits be created all along the greenway.
