Dagwood Jr — Restaurant in Mexico

I stopped by after running some errands in the area, so I wanted to try something different and local in town.

Very nice little sandwich shop in Mexico MO that offers quite a few different options for you to choose from. I asked the lady (whom by the way was very friendly and helpful.) on what she recommends as it’s my first time. She offered the Mario ( an Italian sandwich.) very delicious, and a good amount of portions on the sandwich. Bread is fine but nothing spectacular. It does a fine job in flavor and texture.

The atmosphere of the restaurant does seem like it needs an upgrade, but it’s also in a old building so I won’t hold them against it, but it’ll be nice to see a fresh coat of paint on this great establishment. I’ll have to come back again for their other...

So this review is kinda 50-50. I had the Miss Rachel sandwich, small size. It was wonderful. Fresh & delicious. There was a very generous serving of meat on it. It was quite large for a $4 sandwich. My husband had the small Ozark sandwich, also only $4. It had very skimpy meat on it but tasted ok, the bun was slightly over toasted. We each had a piece of lemon meringue pie. They were very large for $4.15 and were extremely good. We each requested a glass of water and were charged $2 each for those. Seems kinda pricey for plain water? (Other items were pretty reasonable so it kind of evened out in the end?) The cashier was very sweet and friendly but a bit spacey. I would go back and eat again, my husband isn’t too enthused. Best sandwich I've ever had period. We were passing thru as we are relocating and our journey took us thru Mexico Missouri. I told the wife the sandwich was so good I wanted to eat the napkin. I advise you to try this place you can thank me later. Thank you for the sandwich and the service. We will be stopping in everytime we pass by during the next three months. Then once we get relocated we will be 35 miles away and this will be a regular stop for us.
