This is a local favorite and if you blink, you'll miss it! It is located about a mile from where I grew up and is in the store front of a drive through/carry out that is locally owned and operated. They have a really good deli, a number of prepared salads you can grab on the go, and they make great sandwiches.
But our favorite is their daily Hot Plate Specials priced at only $7.25. These are home made from scratch type of meals and they have it down to a science! There's always a line, but they get you in and out very quickly. There are usually 2-3 people working behind the deli & hot food counter so they are basically serving 2 people at a time. The menu changes once a month and you can download it from their website (pdf form).
For instance, the they serve a wonderful fried chicken meal that includes 2 pieces of your choice, and 2 sides which include mashed potatoes and usually mixed vegetable, or macaroni & cheese, and a roll. You pick your food up and take it to the counter behind you to pay. I must look like a "dropper" because they always carry my 3+ meals to the other counter for me :) Very friendly, quick, and don't be discouraged by the line because they move you in and out quickly.
Other meals have included a glazed ham, chicken & dumplings, pot roast, and meatloaf. But check out their menu. they do a huge before dinner crowd.
They also do catering, and although I don't live in Cincinnati anymore, I'd use them in a heart beat. It's also dear to my heart because it's in walking distance of where the old Pleasant Hill Elementary School (Seipelt Elementary) was located. For the price, the convenience, and the speed of service, I would highly...
Read moreStopped here on the recommendation of a friend. What a gem in the rough!!! The outside isn't flashy or attention-catching. And, being honest the inside doesn't strike you as anything spectacular either. It looks like a "mom and pop grocery store/deli". But give it 1-2 minutes and you get enfolded in the atmosphere and welcoming hospitality of everyone working there. I found a bakery loaf of bread immediately but didn't want to carry it around as I shopped. The person working the register asked if I wanted to place it on the counter for when I was ready for check-out. She had two other orders started there as well. There was a cooler with pre-measured, weighed and priced salads next to the deli section. I picked up a couple things from there. Then I went to the deli counter for fresh meats and cheeses. The roast beef was not quite ready, but they asked me to wait while they checked to see if it was cooled down enough for slicing. Fortunately it was, so I got the "freshest" sliced roast beef I have ever purchased. While I was waiting on the slicing, I browsed through the display case in front of me, and found seafood salad that was "calling my name". And, some egg salad. While my meat, cheese and salads were being sliced and packaged the counter/deli workers chatted with me about the store and it being my first visit. There were very friendly, helpful and informative. I felt like I was dealing with new friends. It was a very pleasant experience. All the food was delicious. And, I found a new place to shop...with...
Read moreBeen a faithful customer but not going back. The food quality at the drive through has really gone down. The absolute worst chicken and dumplings, meat loaf, and turkey dinner. Green beans like tasteless rubber, dumplings like waddled up hard biscuit dough, dressing like waddled up hard lumps of bread, meatloaf with no sauce or seasoning, just pail gray sliced meat that reminded me of canned dog food paste sliced up. The turkey looked like it was thin strips of tasteless lunch meat. Even the gravy was tasteless. I could not concoct such nasty meals if I tried. Something has happened and it needs to be addressed instead of loyal customers acting like it is as great as it ever was. It's not and I hope they take a hard look and address the quality of these dinners. They can't keep up this riding on the market's past glory, thinking that they can skate along like this. I hated to post this review but it is the truth and I hope it effects change...
