I was really excited to try Fuego because who isn't excited about a new Mexican restaurant? I had read that it was similar to a chain restaurant where guac is extra (haha) and I wanted to see if it was a better option. I was not disappointed! The menu has a lot of variety when it comes to meats that can be used for your meal, salsas, and other toppings. They also offer classics like elotes, churros, and agua frescas. I decided to try something similar to what I get at the other place so I could properly compare. I ordered a bol with barbacoa, rice, black beans, corn, green salsa, guac, and cheese. I was more pleased with it than I have been at the chain burrito place. Their barbacoa wasn't super fatty, which I've encountered more than a few times elsewhere, it was nicely seasoned and tender. I loved their guac because there weren't giant chunks of raw onion in it. Some are ok, but too many is kind of a turn off for me! Haha I overheard someone ordering shrimp for their meal and the server explained that it takes about 5 minutes to prepare the shrimp. I was impressed! Having shrimp prepared fresh for your meal is way better than having it scooped out of a container that's been hanging out. I'm usually not a big seafood person, but I think I'll be trying the shrimp next time because of this! My mom got the chicken tacos and really enjoyed them! They offer agua frescas, which I love, but the flavors were melón (cantaloupe) and watermelon. I'm more of a limón girl, so I passed this time. My mom got the watermelon agua fresca and couldn't stop talking about it! Everything was super fresh and the restaurant was clean. I'm looking forward to visiting again! I'll definitely be trying the shrimp and maybe even an elote! My only suggestion would be to offer corn tortillas...
Read moreA very honest review from a loyal Fuego fan. My entire family has been eating here for a couple years and I have raved about Fuego to everyone since I found them. One of my favorite things, in contrast to Chipotle and other chains, was that the meats were not heavily seasoned and you spiced it up with the salsas and add ins. This meant my kids could eat the meats and enjoy them, and the adults could choose from a long list of salsa choices. A while back, they removed more than half of the salsa choices…. I was pretty bummed but I understood and kept on loyally eating there a couple times per week. Then Marisol disappeared…. I assume they moved her to the new location maybe…. And things went really south, really quickly. We tried to hang in there with new people, giving them the benefit of a learning curve… but then items were missing from our orders consistently, the quality of customer service was lacking….. and we fell off for a while. We’ve been back a few times recently, but the food quality is just not the same…. I don’t know what happened but it’s just not the same. Bland meat, bland salsa, bland overall product. It really bothers me because I LOVED FUEGO, but I think...
Read moreI hadn’t been to Fuego in years and was really excited to go back for a change of pace at lunch. Unfortunately, I left highly disappointed. The service was very poor — the lady serving my food never looked up when I tried to talk with her, and she seemed almost annoyed when I asked to sample the steak before deciding. When I asked which meats were most popular, it felt like even that was an inconvenience.
When it came to the toppings, the experience wasn’t any better. She barely put any cheese on my food, and when I politely asked for a little more, she added only the tiniest amount. On top of that, she barely served any chicken — I was literally searching through my bowl to find it. At no point did she make eye contact or smile, which made the whole interaction feel cold and unwelcoming.
A simple smile, friendliness, and fair portions go a long way in customer service — and unfortunately, all of that was completely...
