I was driving to North Bay Village and was stuck in traffic for 45 minutes because the bridge did not go down. It just so happen I looked across the street on my drivers side and saw Schnitzel House, it did not look anything inviting or exciting so I did a review search and saw it had more good reviews than bad. I would like to address the two bad reviews, one woman complained about the food not having enough salt? You should carry around a salt shaker in your handbag you know nothing about how food should taste if you’re covering it up with salt. Other bad review had complaint about pork schnitzel is very expensive and they are changing south beach prices. The prices on their menu are with reason and fair. Now back to my experience when my girlfriend and myself walked in the place was almost full for monday night. We were greeted and the woman asked if we had reservations we looked in amazement this place must be really good to ask if we had reservations, we said no and she managed to find us a table. The vibe of the restaurant is small with a bar and has art deco painting on the walls with 80's new wave music being played. Since being from New York and eating German food there and also in Germany, It was not your typical German ethnic feel, and we liked it and was willing to stay and give this place a chance. Few things they should consider and first serving on the table is pumpernickel bread with Obatzda cheese spread and cucumbers thin sliced pickles which is served in German restaurants. I ordered the chicken schnitzel and it came with mash potatoes and brown gravy, it should have come with side of red cabbage but it did not, It was crunchy and delicious now for little criticism German style boneless chicken schnitzel should be thin it was more on the thick side but still good. My girlfriend ordered the pork schnitzel she loved it and thought everything was great. The drinks were also good a bit overpriced I ordered Rubber Neck and Girlfriend had Carlos Von Schmidt. Desert we ordered Apple Turnover, what happen to the Apple Strudel? Did not have a chance to try the beers but looking at other tables it looked great to me and I overheard others saying it was gross. My review I give them score of from 1-10 a 8. Service was fast and food was hot and it was delicious this is main thing for us. Because the place was not your typical ethnic with servers dressed for Octoberfest made for a new experience in dining out. You won't go wrong in having a nice dinner and I'LL BE BACK! and not with my salt shaker. Schnitzel post a clear...

As we entered The New Schnitzel House, we were graciously welcomed by Helen, who seated us and answered our many questions about the most popular German foods there. We were so excited to try the menu. We had never been to the previous Schnitzel restaurant, so this was going to be a new experience for us. We were surprised at how large the restaurant was and how well they integrated the outdoor dining with indoor dining. There are also 2 bars, indoors and outdoors. This is really a cool place!
The ambiance has a very nice 80s pop art feel to it. Casual yet chic. We loved it. The tables were spaced nicely and the chairs were very comfortable. The lighting was dim but not dark. I felt relaxed and peaceful. The color scheme chosen for the furniture, artwork, and woodwork was very well done.
Our server was the well-versed Antenor, who took very good care of us! His timing was impeccable with the dishes as well as keeping the water glasses full. His food recommendations were very good as well. For our apppetizers, we ordered the delicious Pretzel with the various mustards, the Shrooms with Fennel, and the Spetzel, which was a German mac n cheese version. My daughter ordered the Chicken Schnitzel, and I ordered the Veal Schnitzel for our main entree. Both were tender and well prepared. We ordered the mashed potatoes with our main entree. For our drinks, I ordered a glass of Carignan, la Patience, and Larisa tried the Wild Turkey bourbon old-fashioned. Everything tasted very good!
The New Schnitzel gives generous portions, so we had to ask for 3 doggie boxes to take home some of the food. We left room for dessert, and thank goodness that we did, because I absolutely loved the German cheesecake!! It is one of the best that I have ever tasted! Larisa got the Apple Crumble, and she enjoyed that!
We had a fabulous pre-New Year's dinner here and will definitely go back.
There is ample free parking in the back, so no worries there. There is wheelchair accessibility also. Reservations are advised with Saturday evenings...
Read moreI'm a Chinese-American that grew up in Miami, so I was pretty excited to try this place. It didn't meet up to my expectations. To be frank, it was very average. The restaurant is decorated beautifully with Chinese lanterns, but the food and service was mediocre. Honestly, all the dishes we tried were just "meh." We were waiting for one thing to really stand out and blow us away, but it was all very underwhelming. It wasn't bad, just not amazing, especially for the price you pay. The food is too expensive. The tea-braised duck was really dry and hard, and the eggplant tempura was undercooked. The coconut rice pudding was bland. Our waiter was also not the best. He only gave us two water options, sparkling or still. We thought still water just meant tap water, until we saw an $8.00 charge for bottled still water on our bill. We overheard another waiter offer their table three water options: "sparkling, still, or regular water." Our waiter purposely left out a regular water option, so we got tricked into paying for expensive water. Another thing, is that when we were telling him our order, he kept pressuring us to order more things off the menu. For example "Are you sure you don't want anything else? What about the long beans? What if you tried this? Are you sure that's all you want?" Then we asked if we could add stuff later and he replied, "You have to order everything now because we need to put in the entire order at once." This fine, especially it's a rule. I just didn't like how the waiter kept pushing us to order more. I know a bigger bill = a bigger tip, but as a waiter, your first priority should be the comfort of your guests, not your tip. The food was okay. The music and decorations were really cool. Overall, overpriced and underwhelming. You could definitely find better Chinese food in South Florida. I like the concept, but this place just isn't...
