As a Los Angeles foodie accustomed to a diverse culinary scene, I was blown away by my recent experience at Ogawa in Miami. From the moment my friend and I stepped inside, we were transported to a world of elegant simplicity and exceptional taste.
Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a chic, minimalist design with warm lighting and subtle Japanese accents. The open kitchen allowed us to witness the culinary artistry firsthand, it was intimate yet lively, perfect for catching up with a close friend.
Service: The chefs helped us navigate the menu and explained the different sake options pairing our dishes making us feel truly welcome.
Food: The star of the show, of course, was the food. We opted for the omakase experience, allowing the chef to curate a personalized tasting menu based on seasonal ingredients and our preferences. Each course was a revelation, showcasing the freshest seafood and impeccable preparation. The flavors were delicate yet balanced, and the presentation was a feast for the eyes. Our favorites were the melt-in-your-mouth yellowfin tuna sashimi, the umami-rich sea urchin, and the delicately grilled salmon belly, oh my, oh my...!
Overall: Ogawa is not just a restaurant; it's an experience. The combination of exquisite food, impeccable service, and stunning ambiance made it a highlight of our Miami trip. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience that elevates Japanese cuisine to an art form, Ogawa is a must-visit. It easily earns 5 stars and a place on my list of top culinary...
Read moreI went to Japan and came back, without having to get on a plane or leave Miami. Ogawa offers a one of a kind dining experience in which the level of the food is matched with the quality of the service.
100% of the products I consumed originated from Japan, from Giant Pacific Octopus to the finest Hitachi Wagyu beef. The selection of Sake is simply exquisite!
The restaurant seats 12 people maximum on the sushi bar, with two dedicated sushi chefs who create a distinctive experience for each person using only the finest ingredients. It is a spectacle to witness how each fish (flown straight from Japan) is gently caressed and carefully sliced with utmost appreciation and devotion. I watched in awe as Chef Masayuki delicately created each dish as if he were creating art.
My recommendation is that the best way to enjoy this experience is on a solo date with yourself so that nobody can distract you from the orgasmic feel of each bite. If you want to share the experience make sure to go with someone who really appreciates Japanese food and is ready to dive into this one of a kind experience with their full attention. The focus is on the food and the experience, not on socializing.
This is the kind of place where eating becomes a ceremony in which the chef leads the way and walks you through flavors and textures that spark your curiosity and make you fall in love with Japanese food and culture.
Founder Alvaro Perez and chef Masayuki did it again, expectations were absolutely surpassed! I will fantasize with Ogawa...
