We ordered from Mimis for the first time during CLE Pizza week and were extremely impressed! Food, service and the atmosphere were all fantastic. We ordered the 14 inch white Margarita pizza, 14 inch pepperoni pizza, and two cannoli.
My short review is: if you are looking for a simple thinner crust pizza that's not like a cracker with quality ingredients that comes out of a clean kitchen from a friendly staff. Then look no further!
My longer, honest and thorough review from a former restaurant manager is as follows:
The Service: We ordered on the last day of pizza week for them which happened to be a Saturday night. So I expected it to be busy. They were having technical issues that online orders did not print. Due to that I ended up waiting an extra 20 minutes past my pickup time. The staff was super apologetic and I understood that it was out of their control. While I waited the owner came out and apologized profusely. We had a pleasant conversation then she went back and prepped my cannolis fresh.
The Atmosphere: It was a busy Saturday and they were killing it! The staff remained positive and upbeat. The majority of who I saw were younger guys but they seem to genuinely get along and enjoy working together. Coming from the service industry I notice the details and from what I could see everything looked clean, there were no foul odors, and I witnessed proper hand washing intervals and procedures throughout the time I waited.
The Food: when ordering pizza here you have to keep in mind that it is New York style pizza. It's a thinner crust, not a lot of sauce. That said, the red sauce on the pepperoni pizza was fantastic! It was well balanced, not too sweet or acidic. The crust had a good flavor and was cooked perfectly. The white marg was great! The cannoli filling was a little on the softer side but had a really good flavor, the shell was crunchy but not super brittle. Overall a 10 out of 10!
This is a small family-owned business and after talking with the owner for a good part of the time I waited, it was clear that it's one of those businesses that you can't help...
Read moreI feel bad that I have to even write this review. I had high hopes. My husband and I went there to get a pizza. My uncle and cousins were wanting to try as well. We first called to place an order and no one answered. It was a British answering machine so we decided to drive over there. We pulled their menu up from their website and decided on which pizza to order. I told them that they had 85 (5) star reviews and we wanted to find out why , so we ordered a large with extra sauce, pepperoni and mushrooms, black olives with ricotta and extra cheese. It took them 15 minutes to prepare so we waiting in the car and my husband went in to get the big pizza. I took a look at it in the car and it looked fantastic! We were talking about that they were going to get the 86th (5) star review from us. Well my uncle lives about a mile from the pizza shop. I tried the first slice. First thing I noticed is that the pizza had near to no sauce on it. The mushrooms were not fresh, they were canned. Then I was looking for the extra cheese which there was non and then I bit into the slice. It was absolutely tasteless and not only that, it tasted sour like it was spoiled. My husband then had a slice and said that a cardboard pizza from the grocery store had more flavor than this slice My uncle is a huge pizza critic in this area and he took one bite and spit it out. He said it tasted sour and acidic. I am not trying to hurt this place in any way. I wish them the best and I hope that they make it. But going forward, there are hundreds of pizza places around. Even the very most expensive delicious Donato’s large pizza doesn’t cost $28. So in closing. Make sure that if you ever order from this place, that you thoroughly examine the pizza before you leave. It was a total waste of money and I fed it to my Uncles garbage can and broke off pieces...
Read moreUnbelievably delicious pizza!! My wife and I had been wanting to try this place as its relatively new, but I usually go for 'crazier' pizzas with non-traditional toppings. We were going to originally order from another place we like, but they were closed for catering. Their loss - this was the best thing that could have happened, because I am so glad we tried Mimi's. Their pizza is top-tier!
The cheese is great, and the sauce has that old-world homemade flavor while maintaining some sweetness. The dough and crust are also just right - not too tough or overcooked, and has a great taste - its more on the thin side but I can appreciate that. We had the Hot Honey Pepperoni pizza with ricotta and it was one of the best pizzas we've ever had, hands down. Also their desserts are absolutely solid. The banana pudding is different (I'm more used to southern-style; this is NY-style), but it's refreshing and hard to put down. The cannoli...oh man the cannoli. It may be $5 for one which seems steep, but it tastes so much better than any I've had before. Not sure what the secret is there, but it's absolutely worth getting.
I noticed they were a family-owned business and were really pleasant. They make you feel at home the moment you walk in. Its hard to find a great experience like that nowadays in both the quality & authenticity of the food, and the customer service. You've restored my faith in enjoying 'simpler', traditional pizza again - thanks Mimi's. Looking forward to trying the rest...
