A little disappointed in this new library. It looks huge from the outside, but the first time I came to this branch, I was surprised by how small it actually is inside. Today was my second time visiting and I brought my 11 month old along, figuring we could spend some time in the childrenās area after Iād picked out my books... the play area is one shelf of toys and a tiny play kitchen. The book selection isnāt huge either. Iām disappointed because as a baby, her main interest in books is what they taste like, so whenever we visit a library we hit up the play section. Itās a fun activity to get out of the house and do something, and I didnāt feel like we could do that here because the area was so limited. One of the librarians also seemed annoyed that I dared to have a baby there, crawling around. Not sure if Iāll go back to this branch, which disappoints me further because I live in Middleburg Heights and this branch is closest to me. The reading pods are a cool idea though, I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThank you to the senior librarian who helped me gain access to the study room. She is the only reason why I gave any stars at all. The middle aged librarian and the younger one with pink hair spent two hours harassing me and other visitors in the closed off study rooms, to make sure we kept our masks on (I was in the room alone) and wore them properly. One reminder was enough, but they were incessant, obsessive even, and it made me feel so uncomfortable, I didnāt want to be there anymore, so I left. They kept walking back and forth; the older one kept barging into my room while I was in a zoom meeting for work, and berated me about how my mask needed to be further on my nose ( It was on my nose correctly, but somehow still insufficient enough for her liking, I guess). I felt like this was highly inappropriate and unproductive, especially given I wasnāt near any other visitors. I wonāt be coming back because my overall experience didnāt make me feel very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLibraries are known for being quiet except for this one. This place always has a commotion going on. Of the 10+ times I went thereās always kids running around yelling or someone talking on their phone and no one tells them anything. Thereās also not a single sign that says keep your voice down, silent phones, etc. Iām writing this not because Iām bored or have nothing better to do but because something should be done. Studying and reading (what libraries are for) is difficult at this branch. Make the change and Iāll...
