I have been a customer at Middlesex Texas Weiner since the early '90s, and it pains me to share that my recent experiences have been less than satisfactory. I believe that with a few adjustments, this place could regain its former charm and appeal to the growing community in this part of NJ.
Service:
In the past, I remember being warmly greeted upon entering. However, lately, it seems the greeting has been replaced with a more transactional approach. A friendly greeting and small talk go a long way in making customers feel valued.
Atmosphere:
The appearance of the restaurant leaves much to be desired. The locked side door and the overall outdated look create an unwelcoming atmosphere.
Food:
The quality of the food has noticeably declined. The burger patty seems smaller and lacks flavor. The buns appear old, and the fries were served cold and undercooked.
Considering the potential customer base in this area, especially with the ongoing construction, I believe implementing the following changes could help MTW reclaim its position as a go-to spot for food enthusiasts:
Update the restaurant's appearance to create a more inviting atmosphere. Provide staff training on proper guest greetings and encourage friendly small talk. Invest in retraining the kitchen staff to enhance the quality of the meals. I am committed to supporting local small mom & pop businesses like MTW, but I believe that for the price paid, customers deserve a better overall experience (considering current inflation prices). I hope you take this feedback into consideration and work towards restoring Middlesex Texas Weiner to its...
Read moreUsed to like this place. The food is good, especially for the price. But Tony, who I believe is the owner, was incredibly rude. My grandfather and I got a full dinner with soups, dessert and coffee. Definitely didn't come just for some soda or a plate of fries. We also hadn't been there excessively long, maybe a bit over an hour. But Tony came up to us and asked us how much longer we were planning to stay at the table! The table was specifically mentioned, meaning that he was trying to get the table open for new customers. This was confirmed when he decided to seat the new customers anyway, by opening a table that had been closed for social distancing. Mind you, my grandfather was sitting right there, with a half a mug of coffee left!
There's a couple other odd things about this restaurant, like no free refills, but because of the price I wasn't bothered before. It may seem silly from a 3rd person perspective, but imagine being interrupted from your meal that you paid a good amount for, basically being told you're...
Read moreThe food was about what you would expect for diner food. Not amazing but not bad either. They have ceiling tiles which are moldy and clearly damaged from prior leaks that haven’t been replaced or cleaned, which is weird because the rest of the place seems clean.
They charge about 3.65% service charge for credit cards and no service charge for cash. There is a 20% fee for parties of 4 or more.
At the end of service (for three people), the waitress crossed out the total with tax amount on the receipt and wrote a price $11 more than what the crossed out price was. When I questioned her she said that it was tip. At no point was I made aware that she was going to add tip herself or asked if we wanted to add tip. When I calculated it, it was $2 more than if a service charge was added, basically a 25% tip she added on herself.
Will not be...
