As a proud Brooklyn native who grew eating pizza all the time I love to try new places. Zoni’s Brooklyn Brick oven pizzeria sparked my interest just based on the name itself. When you walk through the front door you get that instant old school italian vibe. The menu certainly reminds me of Brooklyn with items like the 18th Ave Feast. Something I definitely appreciate.
I called in and ordered 3 different pies the Carol Gardens(Veggie Pizza), Margherita and a Margherita with pepperoni. By the way takeout is suppose to enter through the side entrance. I honestly didn’t see the huge arrow that says so. I picked up my order 10 minutes later was greeted with a friendly smile paid for my order and drove home excited with my 3 pies.
Once home I opened up all 3 pizza boxes and was impressed how good Margherita pies looked but surprised so see the Carl Gardens pie was missing… instead got a huge calzone!! I’m talking half of a large pie in size!!
Now I do like calzones with the included sauce and it was damn good. I even enjoyed both margaritas too. The dough was thin and well done but not burnt.
A slight mistake like messing up an order is annoying, but I can understand mistakes do happen. If the order had been done right this would’ve been a five...
Read moreI was at an event up the road at Oyster Point Hotel. So I did a search before leaving for best pizza in area and stumbled upon here. I decided to order a large Americana and a Large Vodka Margherita pie. First thought upon pickup was that I was carrying 2 empty boxes because they were so light. The pizzas were very thin, like almost paper thin. The Americana was ok but the weird thing about it was that it had a strange aftertaste to it. Too light on the sauce and cheese. The vodka margherita was the better of the 2. The only downfall with it was that the sauce was very light and pie was almost dry. If it were a little thicker and more sauce it would have been great. The undercarriage of both pies had a lot of blackened char spots all over but not on their crust. I guess that’s how it comes out in their ovens? I live in the Mecca of really good pizzas which is around Trenton NJ and I felt these pies were just average and too thin for my liking. Even thinner than tomato pies from Papas and Delorenzos. You could eat many slices and feel like you ate nothing. Unfortunately not a place that I’d make my way out to...
Read moreWe love Zoni’s, order from here often, and their buffalo chicken pizza is by far the best around. Pickup is typically quick and easy.
They also offer gluten free crust and vegan cheese which is a huge win for the dietary restrictions for some in my family. These items being stocked is very hit or miss.
However, last night we ordered a vegan cheese margherita. After a 40 minute wait on a quoted 15, I brought home the pizza to find out it had no cheese at all on it.
We called Zoni’s, and the person on the phone blamed the kitchen, who said they were out of the non-dairy cheese. If you’re out of the cheese, no big deal, just call and let us know so we can get dinner elsewhere. But don’t just send out a cheese-free pizza after charging me for cheese and the additional vegan up charge. The employees response to that was “whatever.”
This isn’t the first time this has happened, unfortunately. A little communication goes a long way. But when Zoni’s gets the order correct, expect a...
