Had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant for the first time 2 days ago. When we arrived the place was completely empty which didn't bother us lol. They have a lot of specials which is great! Our waitress was nice. She made us aware that they were out of several things on the menu like the ribs which were the special for Sunday, the tacos and 1 other item that I cannot remember. My daughter ordered the beer battered buffalo chicken sandwich w/ Mac&chz. She was slightly disappointed with the chicken patty.. and it was just that a frozen chix patty. Nothing was beer battered about it. She said the Mac&chz was just okay. My partner ordered smoked hot wings which were fantastic! Very flavorful, a little pricey but the taste made up for it. She also ordered the bbq brisket Mac&chz bowl. This was absolutely horrible 😩 the brisket was burnt the a crisp! We actually had to send it back to the kitchen and the waitress came out and asked if she could choose something else because the entire brisket was burnt like that and she didn't feel comfortable serving it to us. So she went with the bbq pulled pork Mac&chz bowl. She was good with that. I had the fish and chips with coleslaw. My meal was PERFECT. It was the best fish and coleslaw I'd ever eaten. My family enjoyed my meal and was jealous they didn't get it lol. This restaurant is extremely pricey for typical bar food. We agreed we would only go there for the...
Read moreI have now been to The Hop Yard twice, and the first time is the reason this review is two stars. I will say this, the smoked brisket, ribs and half chicken are excellent, but our second visit will probably be our last. We went on a Saturday evening/night and were seated fairly promptly. After being seated we sat and sat for about 20 minutes, I preceeded to go back to the counter to enquire who our server was, she had not even approached our table. I sat back down for another 10 to 15 minutes while sitting and waiting, two tables that were seated next to and after us received service. As we were leaving I spoke to a woman, presumably a manager as she was not in a uniform, about the lack of attention or even recognition. She offered an apology only. She did not seem to be concerned about patrons leaving dissatisfied and did not even attempt to try and make anything better. I was not trying to get free food or anything similar but coming from a service related industry myself was shocked by her lack of concern about a customer leaving dissatisfied and in all likelihood not returning and most likely not sending...
Read moreWe googled the local restaurants since we were out of our home area. The Hop Yard seemed like a decent place to try. It was Friday night and the place was not packed. It's like they grabbed all the current trends in snobby bars and then threw up tv monitors everywhere for the sports fans. There's even monitors behind the bar seating so the bartenders can all stare blankly over the patrons heads while they eat or have a conversation. Most of the people in the restaurant seemed to be employees or the owners family. The Beer selection isn't terrible but the food prices are high for what we had. My wife had a taco flatbread pizza which was okay but it had wing sauce on it not salsa/picante. I had the mussels appetizer which was good since I haven't had mussels in a while. We also shared a giant soft pretzel which was a disappointment. It was giant and it came with some good cheese dip and mustard but wasn't worth $12. That's why I ordered it because I wanted to see what you get for that price. We stayed for a second beer since we were there already but we will probably try another place if we find ourselves in...
