Very fast service with the usual items. It is probably fastest to park and go inside if you have to eat during the peak lunch time.
I recommend the Buttery Swiss and Bacon, although the calories and cholesterol is probably through the roof - it's melt in your mouth.
The soda fountain has a menu driven custom mix selection. However when I was there, about 3/4 of the selections I tried were unavailable, as if the machine had run out of some flavorings. There was only Coke, vanilla Coke, Dr Pepper, and vanilla Dr Pepper that actually were working at the moment.
-------- the obligatory traffic and parking rant ------- Like all eateries and other shops in this general area, the traffic is awful at certain times of day, because the traffic density is significantly heavier than what the streets were ever designed to carry.
A few tricks and tips that I have noticed some people already doing, but unfortunately a lot more are not yet on the same page with regards to traffic and parking down here.
First of all - traffic can back up for many blocks to approach gridlock radiating out from South 349 / Big Spring / Rankin Hwy and Longview Avenue. Try to plan your trips in and out at off-peak times. Second, I have seen far too many dawdle at the intersection when the light turns green, or attempt turns that are, while technically legal, incredibly disruptive and causes dozens to miss a green light cycle waiting for you to clear the intersection.
There should never be an 18 wheeler entering or exiting Longview Ave, for example. The street is too narrow for their turn radius, and there are signs posted that they are not supposed to be on that street. There are alternate routes with far less traffic to reach the various businesses surrounding this intersection to make deliveries.
Every business should examine their driveway placement with an eye to avoiding traffic bottlenecks, and if necessary, do the rigamarole to move them, change the curb radius as required, so queues don't form on the road because of the difficulty in making the turn and quickly completing entry so no part of their vehicle is protruding into the public right of way.
Drivers: One should be aware of the volume of traffic behind you, and try to get through the intersection as fast as safely possible for the conditions.
In the parking lots, take an extra minute or two to get centered in the space and as deeply into it as you possibly can get, such as front wheels in contact with the curb, or front bumper only an inch or so from touching any light fixture pedestals or bollards if the front wheels don't touch something first. This provides often enough room for others to actually get into and out of the adjacent spaces.
And patience is a virtue. The congestion isn't going away. Consider a more circuitous route with more right turns and fewer left turns. Learn to avoid highly congested intersections and position yourself many blocks away for a clean right turn insertion into and a clean right turn exit from these parking lots to minimize the amount of traffic you have to cross. If necessary, drive around a couple of blocks if that is necessary to end up going the desired direction after making that right turn.
UPS famously re-did their routes a few years ago to minimize the number of left turns, and realized millions of dollars in fuel savings, and even more in accident / injury claims involving their truck fleet. Many drivers should get out their maps and take a page from UPS' playbook to help alleviate traffic congestion.
And for those who are already doing these things, a big pat on the back, as you are helping traffic move more smoothly...
Read moreJust ordered through the drive-trhough. Ordered a Build Your Own Ultimate Munchies with an Ultimate Cheeseburger, 4 tacos and a large drink and then an Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger and a medium fries. When I got to the pick up windows and paid for my order I found out they charged me for the T-Pain Munchie Meal, 2 tacos, and my bacon cheeseburger and fries. I tried to tell the person that my order was wrong but he had trouble understanding me as English is not his native language. I had to show him his own website and point to what I ordered. Then I asked him to make sure that my Ultimate Bacon cheeseburger was plain and dry. No mustard no ketchup no pickles. Just burger cheese and bacon. He said OK. Waited another 3 minutes at the pickup window then he told me to park in front to wait for my order. 15 minutes later he brought me 1 bag. I asked him where the other half of my order was. He said "Oh." I checked the bag he gave me and it was incorrect. There was a Ultimate burger, curly fries and 2 tacos. I told him when he came back out that it should be burger and 4 tacos. He took the bag back inside as he handed my my 2nd burger. Which was completely wrong. I ordered it plain and dry. This had everything on it. So I followed him in explaining what plain and dry means. No mustard no mayo no ketchup no pickles. Just meat and cheese and bacon. He looked at me like he never heard about anyone ever ordering like this. He asked his cook to remake the burger.
I get home and hand my mother her Munchies order. Her burger is plain and dry with just a little bit of mustard and ketchup on the bun. The tacos were swimming in burnt grease. Half the taco shells were wet and darker brown than the top of the tacos. Completely inedible.
The sign on the door says they are Under New Management. But if you don't speak Spanish I would highly recommend you avoid this restaurant...
Read moreIt was nearly 10:00 this morning when I came through the line at Jack in The Box. I asked them for a simple breakfast item and a large sweet tea. They informed me that they had no sweet tea ready. For the 10 minutes that weighed in line and all still nobody made any attempt to make sweet tea. What's going on Jack in the Box do you only care about yourselves and not your customers? Really you make over two and a half dollars on one single large tea and how much does it cost you to make that tea? Seems like someone just getting off their rear and using some initiative would make your store a heck of a lot more money than your people just standing around. When I received my burrito it was maybe only six inches long. You know when you pay over $6 for just one burrito you would expect they would use the whole tortilla and fill the thing properly. Very disappointed. The cashier could not give me a simple amount of change I paid him with a 10 for a six and a half dollar item and he did not have change in his teal. The outside of the restaurant appears quite nasty all along the drive-thru they're stains and looks like spit stains and all sorts of stuff on the glass just really kind of gross there signage is falling off of the building just hanging there like an Old rag. Maybe y'all should take some pride in your store clean it up a bit or do something to make it more presentable. Hopefully you will find this review helpful and act on it accordingly. Thank you Jack in the Box at least the burrito...
