First time going to the Plate last weekend. The restaurant was very cold- the washroom felt like a freezer. I don’t know why the mid section of the restaurant feels just as cold as outside but it is. We waited about 10 mins for a table in the main dining area. Was promptly seen and asked about drinks. The server was very nice and attentive. Our mains were tasty- I got the lobster quesadilla which had a generous amount of lobster meat on it. My boyfriend got the special Mac and cheese omelet that was delicious. We werent impressed with their pancakes at all. They were very dry and plain. We had ordered their pancake flight - banana coconut, peanut butter cup and cinnamon roll. Banana coconut was a banana pancake with slices bananas, berries and dried coconut on top (as pictured below. It was disappointing as I thought peanut butter cup would be a mix of PB and chocolate, but it came out as a plain pancake with PB slabbed on top ... so that made it even more dry. The cinnamon roll pancakes were also disappointing as there was barely any cinnamon And a very small amount of cream cheese icing in the middle of the pancake. Would probably come back and have more off their egg items but unfortunately never again for...
Read moreSo far, so delicious - first time ordering from The Plate through grubhub in recent weeks after moving back home from a nasty home disaster and just haven't gotten around to unpacking our kitchen area yet. Everything we've ordered has been super fresh and tasty so far - the BLT breakfast sandwich, tater tot and eggs mexican style breakfast are the favs and also the pancakes, french toast, eggs, sausage are all delicious and fresh. With having an elderly mom with Alzheimers whose very picky with food, she's gobbled up the pancakes, eggs, even sausage without question. Also the Connecticut's best coffee is exactly that, super good and they should consider setting up a drive thru and could easily put other coffee spots out of business. We definitely won't be ordering from any other breakfast spot nor Dunkin anytime soon - officially became our breakfast takeout source. Haven't tried outside the breakfast menu but expect won't be disappointed when we do. Congratulations to this small business and...
Read moreWe we're visiting family in Connecticut. Apparently this place has a very good reputation. I did not enjoy the sandwich that I ordered however. When we went in, they were swamped and there was only one waitress for the entire place. She did the best that she could and was very apologetic. The sandwich I ordered was a turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich on White bread. Anyone who knows bread on the East coast knows how much better it tastes than anywhere else. I ordered white bread because of the soft inside and crunchy outside but they made the mistake of toasting it which I did not know about and it ruined the sandwich. They do have awesome pickles though and great fries and tater tots. I would go there again but I would probably not order any of their sandwiches and go with an entree instead. Oh, I forgot to mention, they also had a great selection for...
