My mom is famous for her pies, especially her rhubarb pies with meringue. But it was too tall an order to ask her to make 6 of them for my niece's bridal shower, so when I Googled "rhubarb pies Erie" and Art's Bakery showed up, I was so excited! I called and spoke with Gordon, the owner; he couldn't have been nicer. When I asked if it was possible to add meringue, he said he'd only done meringue on a couple of other types of pies but not rhubarb...however, he was up for the challenge and was happy to try it out for the first time for my order. My niece and everyone at her bridal shower were so excited to see (and devour!) the pies, which were as delicious as they were pretty, with mountains of fluffy meringue atop perfectly-sweetened, tender chunks of rhubarb in a silky custard, with a light, flaky crust baked to perfection. What a win!! Thank you Gordon (and your friendly staff, who helped us check out quickly even though they were very busy)! You and your bakers knocked this order over the fences and I can't wait for an opportunity to come back and try some of the other delicious items in your bakery. Erie is one lucky town to have...
Read moreThis place is amazing. We stop almost everytime we are remotely close and often just go there specifically. If you haven't been there I highly recommend, theres a huge selection of all kinds of stuff. You can't go wrong with anything, it's all fantastic and the staff is always above and beyond friendly. We have stopped right at closing before only because we were driving by and noticed they were open and didn't pay attention to the fact that they were closing basically that moment and no one even batted an eye which is definitely not the norm anymore. It seems like every other establishment ive been at the last few years if you're there or even stop in within 15-20 mins of closing time, the employees act as if the time the store closes is the time they are supposed to be punched out and driving out of the parking lot. I guess thats just the mentality anymore but not at this place, they are not the norm in anyway, you won't be...

So I get back to work and realize I only got 1 dressing packet.. no big deal I walked back to get a couple more. I wasn't dissastified until i started to eat my sub.. there wasn't enough dressing in the world that could have spiced up or given this sub any flavor is was so bland dry and flavorless that I just threw it away then I thought sweets make everything better so I went for my elephant ear which was harder then the concrete I was standing on.. it could be that thus us the way they make theirs but my whole life I've been eating them and they have never ever been that hard. Usually the are a little crispy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside. So overall I will not be going to arts to eat or get anything else...
