The Cab — Restaurant in Millcreek Township

I have been a loyal customer at this place for MANY years. As of late the service has gone downhill though and we don't frequent it as much as we use to. Mostly because of poor service and inevitably there is always something screwed up with our order. I mean... hello... how do you screw up a grilled cheese sandwich. ... their cook did. I am so disappointed since we LOVED this place and have always brought guests from out of town there and when I worked at Marriott I sent a lot of guests there as well. Tonight was the ABSOLUTE FINAL STRAW for me. I requested a glass of ice water with lemon when I walked in. The waitress, Leslie, said she may have to slice some lemons. No big deal. I can wait. Well, we ordered and the food came out. Still no water. When I inquired about it she snapped and said there may not be any lemons. After our meal we got our checks. Our friend had knly had 2 beers and we said we would pay for them. Gave her my credit card and when she brought the reciept back she handed me 3 different bills. WHAT?! I finally got that straightened out, go back to the table and ahe gave a bill to the guy we bought beer for. When I went back up to the bar yet again to fix that.... there was attitude from the waitress. At this point I was BOILING. I told her she had no business waiting tables. Just OK. A friend and I were there for lunch recently. We had gone earlier in the summer thinking we could eat outside as we had done in previous years. We sat outside a few minutes and patio area seemed as though it needed housekeeping attention. I went in to the bar and had a hard time getting anyone's attention. When I did speak with someone, she assured me someone would wait on us. I went back out and told my friend I suspected the lady I spoke with was blowing smoke just to get rid of me. We waited 7 minutes and no one came out so we left. Fast forward to this visit. Once again, the patio was deserted (both our visits were lunchtime) and needed swept. Tables and chairs needed wiped down. So, we went inside to back area. Waitress was OK but appeared to be working by herself. She was somewhat abrupt until we chatted and joked with her a bit. Worst restaurant in Erie! My wife and I had the perch dinner. It was seriously over breaded, overcooked and hard as a rock. I couldn’t taste any fish and it looked very thin under that heavy, greasy batter. The baked potato was brown and dried out and the French fries were limp and soggy with grease. I complained about my meal and asked to be compensated with something else. They were willing to give me a small order of wings and I asked for hot Buffalo. They were smothered in a buttery sauce that was not even hot. The only good thing was the chicken gumbo soup. I thought this place was pretty good a few years ago but definitely not now. Like so many other places, they may have fallen victim to being so busy they are always slammed and can’t find enough help to cook things right or they are in too much of a hurry because they have more demand than they can keep up with.
