Captain D's — Restaurant in Milledgeville

I was in this area on business I actually live 2 hours away!! & I must say this was a TERRIBLE AWFUL experience… The employee was leaned over the counter helping an older lady do something on her phone (had nothing to do with business) she didn’t acknowledge me or the 3 other older people waiting behind me in line I probably stood up there 3 minutes before they walked in & in total the 3 of us stood up there almost 10 mins! She kept helping the lady work her phone. While other employees also just looked from the line & said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! Then I guess something clicked in her head and she called out to someone in the back and said… Whatever his name was there are customers @ the counter. He did apologize & took our orders but yet & still it was ALL unnecessary. If she felt she wasn’t supposed to help us she should have called him from the back IMMEDIATELY!!! The fish & bread was decent the fries were cold. Asked for a water cup was given 1 but I had to say something for him to say oh we don’t have kids for them… In which I had to end up buying a small cup for nearly $3.00 just for water unacceptable & this by far was as I said an AWFUL experience… & the young black girl with the short hair do & tats on her arm need to be taught what comes first CUSTOMERS or helping NOT A CUSTOMER work her phone. Restaurant could need a DEEP cleaning as well. If I could get my money back for would DEFINITELY want it back...

We did not have a good experience on Sunday June 4th 2023. Upon arrival we were greeted by a sign "correct change or CC only." Ok no big deal, so we placed our order got our drinks and took our seats. I went back to get condiments like pickles and jalapenos, they were not available? Ok so I grabbed a few packs of what I thought was signature malt vinegar ( the most important part of why I enjoy the fish there) only to be told by my wife "that's hot sauce 😭. Hot sauce? So I went up to the counter to request malt vinegar only to be told it is not available... But they did have honey mustard ? Is this a fish restaurant or a chicken restaurant ? I am standing waiting for the buzzer to go off which seemed like an extended amount of time considering the dining room was not full. I have enjoyed Captain D's for over 30 years going back to when it was at the old location (currently pickle barrel). Not sure if yesterday was just a really bad day or if this is the new level of service I have learned to expect, like with so many other big brand stores I no longer patronize. I am sad because I really enjoy their fish and malt vinegar, fresh pickles and pickled jalapenos. Then on the way out the exit door...

Let me start off by saying I am not a seafood person. My wife likes popcorn shrimp and most places only offer it on the kids menu. Capitan D’s offers it in a dinner portion. So I caved and obliged her craving. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they now offer a hand breaded chicken finger. It was a thick strip of breast tenderloin meat cooked perfectly so that is was adequately cooked but still juicy in the middle. They have a dipping sauce that reminds me of a mild Cajun remoulade. “D’s sauce” I can imagine it would take good on most everything they sell. I found myself dipping in it almost exclusively next to honey mustard. I guess all the dinners come with hush puppies as a bread side because I got a few with my tenders. They offer Pepsi products and tea and a few desert treats. The restaurant was super clean. For a predominantly fried food establishment I found everything to be free of the usual film of sticky oils. The staff was very friendly and genuinely seem to care about our experience. I would definitely come here again and may more often now that I know their standards are much higher than most options in Milledgeville. I had an...
