Fornello Pizzeria — Restaurant in Millvale

Fornello clearly has fresh ingredients, and they seem to be a good quality. I did find that the combination of pepperoni and a significant amount of cheese did cause a good bit of grease blotches, which is something a lot of others do not like.

The tomato sauce was on the sweeter side and it's offset well by a generous cheese portion. The crust is a medium thickness and has a good chew, but did not have any crispness. I did order as Fornello was opening so there is a good chance the oven wasn't yet up to it's maximum heat, and your mileage may vary a lot on that.

Breadsticks are about an inch thick and have a good crispness and dusting of seasoning. Definitely above par for the non-chain pizza places around, though the price at 7.99 was a bit steep too.

The 1 topping pizza deal at 14.99 was a pretty good value these days though, so that evened it out somewhat. Keep in mind this is a true large 16 inch here unlike all those chains who try to call their 14 inch pies a large.

Overall, a good experience. There is a lot of tough pizza competition in the area but if they do a bit of tweaks to limit the grease and utilize their strong location well, there's no reason they can't compete with the others. I do plan to try them again and see if my...

This place happens to be close to where we live -- but we are very happy about that. The food is worth going much farther out of our way for. The pizza is consistently delicious, with the crust being not too chewy and not too crisp -- it's actually just right! We've tried several different topping combinations, and they always seem to do them with care. Mushrooms and onions are fresh -- which is a big deal since many other places cut corners on freshness. They have some interesting -- and good -- gourmet topping combinations as well. We also like the gyros. They are always friendly and have come to recognize me. I ordered the seafood alfredo online and you can customize your order but don't bother. They don't read your custom order. I am allergic to mushrooms so the first thing I did was remove the mushrooms. So when I received my order, I stirred it and found big chunks of mushrooms. I called immediately to tell them that I found mushrooms in my order and that I am allergic to them. The man who answered the phone actually asked me if that meant I couldn't eat any of the pasta. Has he never heard of cross-contamination? I had no interest in going to the hospital because of eating something that I am knowingly allergic to.
