Charming little gem with good Anodyne coffee and scrumptious bakery. Just one thing I wish they would fix - please post bakery item prices. Otherwise, every single treat was absolutely delicious. I was seriously wowed. The owner (? I think) named everything I pointed to before giving them to me, but I don’t remember all the names. I have to go by what they look like. (Please post bakery item names along with the price!) (Oh and sorry for the bad picture - he looks mad in the picture, but he was actually just really nice and smiling most of the time. I didn’t realize until way later that he looks mad in the picture lol)

Blueberry scone textured rectangular thing - not airy, but dense, packed with flavor, very filling...
Read moreThis bakery is located in the ghetto( for lack of a better word). I mentioned location so those who chose to visit will know they are in the right place. It is a very clean and well kept bakery. I visited on a late Saturday morning. I purchased everything that was available except brownies and cinnamon rolls. croissant, sandwich with cranberry chutney, open face brioche with toppings, key lime tart, scone and a few others I can't remember the name of. I was everything was pretty impressive. The tart had a delicious flaky Sable Breton crust with a sweet key lime filling. The scone was the best I had ever tasted not too dry or moist, just right. The bread served with the turkey and cranberry chutney was quit divine right amount of push back when squeezed, can't believe I didn't bring a loaf back home with me. If your'e in the Milwaukee area or live there do stop by and give this...
Read moreAmaranth Bakery and Cafe is worth going out of your way to experience. The baked goods, soups and salads are ALL exceptionally yummy, and are made with fresh, healthy ingredients. As others have said, the scones are fabulous, as are the Brittany pastries, croissants, and rugala (rugelach?). The bread is delicious. I especially like the fig/fennel rye and the walnut bread. The soups and salads have never disappointed either! Stephanie and Dave, the owners, give back to the community in a variety of ways, and the casual cafe is always warm, cozy...
