Read moreAnmol is synonymous with great taste and tradition. The food is always great tasting and delicious. Don't expect any fancy decor or ambiance when you visit the restaurant but be guaranteed you will enjoy the food. I ordered a takeout on my way to the restaurant and it was ready by the time I reached there. But it has become a little more expensive than before.
I have to be honest with myself. I originally gave them 5 stars but after the incident on August 22nd, I had to revisit my review.
I had gone to their sister concern sasta bazaar for picking up the sacrificial meat and there was a delay in the processing. So i ordered a roll from Anmol and went to pick up. A Somali family was sitting down for their Eid lunch and had already started eating. The man got up to keep an empty platter on the next table which was unoccupied. The waiter told him not to do that and an argument ensued. Pretty soon, it took a turn for worse and the waiter started abusing the man and his ethnicity saying that all people from his country do this and that. And the poor man, his wife and kids were absolutely shocked. He offered to stop eating and leave the restaurant to which the waiter gladly said yes. And the family got up and left. I was shocked by the incident and the racist comments from the waiter. The same gentleman who is featured in my photo talking on the phone while leaning on the wall, wearing black and white.
I went to the other gentleman who was by the cash register and who obviously appeared to be "Islamic" with a foot long beard and a turban, if this is what Islam teaches and if this is how we treat a guest. I told the waiter that if he cannot be kind, patient and welcoming to his clients, he is in the wrong profession. The other customers who were eating were not involving themselves in this but were obviously very shocked.
We have decided to never again to visit this...
Read moreI had a few dishes at the restaurant. Bindi masala - mediocre Chicken afghani kabab - good Charga - excellent Shahee Paneer - excellent
The food was good overall when all dishes are considered. Why I am giving only 3 stars is because they do not provide rice with any of the entrees especially considering the prices are a bit expensive compared to other restaurants in the area.
Edit: I wanted to add more context to my review: An entree is by definition “the main dish” of a meal. It should not NEED a side. An entree is a dish that should be complete by itself. Indian (and Pakistani) dishes (“curries”) usually come with components
Without both these components I am not sure I’d call it an “entree”. Of course it’s your restaurant and you can have your own definitions. But people can make their own judgement on this issue.
The other problem, which I discovered later - is that I was pre-charged gratuity for being part of a 6 people group. I am perfectly fine with that but they didn’t tell me that at all (and there is no such info on the menu or or payment device or in a visible spot in the restaurant) when I was at the counter trying to pay, so I paid gratuity TWICE. When I called them to confirm if they charged gratuity with the original bill, they confirmed it. I asked them if it was legal to charge people without any disclosure - they kept insisting it was legal to pre-charge gratuity (which I am perfectly fine with) without addressing the main part of the issue that I raised - the DISCLOSURE. They did not offer to remedy or correct the issue with the double charge of gratuity. I am talking to my credit card issuer to check what...
