I just tried to place an order with the gentlemen that answer the phone. I was asked my number & address. Which I have....he asked me my order....I began to tell him what I wanted....he stepped my mid thru said call me from the number you gave. Hung in my face. I was stunned....but was hoping we were disconnected accidentally. So called back...was places in hold ..the same guy came in line I explained to him I what he just did....he said you didn't give me the number you was calling from.....I recited my number I had given him. He said it's to many shootings & murders & robberies going on. I explained to him that it could be possible he took my number down wrong....he should have just ask me to repeat the number instead of hanging up in my face. He hung up on me again. I called back & told him he was rude.....I have only one phone I know my number. He hung up in my face again. Really liked their good...been going for years. Never had a problem on phone or in person.I really feel it was racial. Once he looked over my address....heard the area while already beginning to take order....decided not to take order from me. Yes I agree it's been a lot of crime by blacks & whites😯😕 lately....never can be too cautious. But it was a better way to handle situation. Very digusted with the way I was talked to & treated. I would NEVER order from there again. They would have not gotten 1 star from me if I could leave...
Read moreGold Rush Chicken is a neighborhood store that has been there since 1961! They serve the best fried chicken and French fries ever! They have a diverse menu, from fried chicken, fish and pizza. They have 2 different stores, I have only been to the store on Howell Avenue. You can call in your order and either pick it up or have it delivered. There isn't anywhere in the store to eat and they don't have a parking lot, which is fine because there is plenty of street parking. The store is wheelchair accessible, the counter where you pay is pretty high, but I'm sure one of the guys would come around and help you if needed. I have eaten their fish, pizza and chicken and they are all delicious, especially the chicken. The chicken is fried, the crust is just crispy enough, but not too crispy and the chicken is moist and juicy. My mouth is watering just writing this review! Gold Rush is a great place to get chicken from when you have a group of people, like when people help you move or for a party. Gold Rush's chicken is more expensive then some other places, but it's way better then other places and well...
Read moreWe picked up a "Super Barrel" (24 pc + fries) for Father's Day lunch, and the tender, juicy chicken was a huge hit with Grandpa who wanted to eat the leftovers again for dinner. 24 pcs was a good fit for our group of 6 so that everyone could choose what they wanted and feel comfortable having a second piece or even a third; after lunch we had 2 breasts, 2 thighs and 6 wings leftover. Those of us who were staying for dinner were pretty glad to see those leftovers going into the refrig -- we were looking forward to snacking on them later! Reheating in the oven for 15 minutes (convection, 400º) brought the crispiness right back. Heads up: some of the "1" ratings were related to insignificant details which people shouldn't have rated them down for: phone ringing and ringing -- they answer the phone when they're open, but there isn't an answering machine if they're closed. A very nice guy took my order for the following day, and when we arrived a few minutes early, it was still being cooked. That order was ready and super hot, crispy and fresh, at the exact time we'd asked...
