Ridiculousness We were in the Bayview area and decided last minute to go to Honey Pie. We went during the week when they were less busy. There was no wait which was awesome. Walking into Honey Pie you'll see countertop seating options around the bar area, tables booths, and an area where they have their homemade pies on display. The restaurant also has an outside patio area in back that is open when the weather is nice. We have been here a few times and something we like is the menu and pie options change. On to the food. We ordered PORK FRIES: pulled pork, house BBQ sauce, mornay, pickled jalepenos, green onion, bacon, and a sunny egg all on a bed of French fries. The order came out quick, hot, and ready to eat. Man were they delicious, and as an added bonus, it was enough for 4 people to eat. For my meal I jumped right to the pie. Out of the options I went with their TURTLE PIE. It was very good and hit all the sweet flavors. I was very happy with my choice and wanted to take the rest of the pie home to eat for days. Unfortunately the piece I received was the last one of that pie. Shayla ordered the BREAKFAST CASSEROLE: house made biscuit, roasted potatoes, smoked mushrooms, sausage gravy, white cheddar, bacon, topped with a sunny egg. The meal was steaming hot. It was amazing. Everything ingredient in this dish brought together for overall goodness. Ultimately, the food is Ridiculousness (as in amazing) and we highly recommend Honey Pie for food lovers. On the weekends it can be very busy and they sell out of the pie in a few hours. Food service was good and the building has a good historic environment to it. Parking can be tricky and potentially takes a little bit to find (street parking only) but in my opinion its worth it. I can’t wait until we can go again and eat some great tasting food. $$ 5 out of 5 stars.

The atmosphere at Honeypie immediately attracts your attention. The vision for a cozy diner is masterfully executed and makes you feel at home. Service was warm and friendly; everyone shared in the responsibilities of service. Overall, service was the bare minimum; our table's coffee and water wasn't refilled unless we asked. But we were never ignored. The food was really tasty, save for a few odd ingredient choices. I ordered Short Rib Hash and my brother ordered the Chilaquiles. We split a pair of corn muffins. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was hot. Short Rib Hash was mostly meat with potatoes and other ingredients to compliment it. I truly felt I got my money's worth and it was delicious. Tender braised short ribs served with a well balanced horseradish cream on the side. The chilaquiles weren't very authentic but the flavor was decent. I was not a fan of the plain black beans on top, nor the choice of Tostitos-like chips. But the house chorizo had great flavor, and overall the dish was not bad by any means. Their pies are what really did it for me. We tried both Pistachio Cream and Salted Honey Pie. Both were masterfully prepared. The pistachio tasted like pistachio without the lime green dye or almond extract you find in "pistachio" desserts. It wasn't too sweet and the saltiness of the graham crust was a perfect contrast. The Salted Honey Pie had fantastic honey flavor with enough salt to balance it out and a wonderful flakey crust. This one was on the sweeter side but not cloying. Overall, Honeypie Cafe was a nice surprise. The food was really good. They take creative liberties with their food that I may not like, but I definitely appreciate and respect. They provide pies for a few other cafés in Milwaukee. I felt cozy while eating good food. What else could you want?

Very welcoming and great atmosphere, along with a very friendly staff and welcoming staff. Everyone greeted and said hello upon entering the restaurant. The atmosphere is cute, quaint, and comfortable, and with its decor of nostalgic pictures to the wallpaper and the bookcases - this the kind of place to sit down, have coffee, read a paper, either in quietness or mingle with friends. I truly enjoyed and had a liking to the ambiance. After sitting down and looking through the menu, I decided to order the Breakfast Casserole with a side of their House Fries with Aioli and, always, a bloody mary (opt for their Honey Pie's Classic Bloody). The food came out quickly. Let me tell you, the casserole was as cheesy as can be and given in a very generous amount. It comes sunny, but I prefer and ordered my eggs scrambled. It wasn't what I expected in a casserole, but once I dove my fork in, all the cheesy goodness, sausage, and gravy came out. Underneath it all were the potatoes and biscuit/pie crust. It appeared that it was made like a pie, which I thought was different and unique for this casserole. The flavor and taste were a bit on the sweet side for my liking. The fries were seasoned very nicely with seasoned herbs. However, I didn't care for the aioli too much. Even with the flavor, it tasted too much like mayonnaise. Their Honey Pie Classic Bloody Mary was a bit disappointing as I've heard great things about it. Didn't particularly like the taste - I can't pinpoint it, but just wasn't the right flavor for me. The mimosa, which I made the decision to have later and wanted to try (because it brunch so it's a must!), came out in a tall glass cup and was too sweet for my taste, as well. However, I'd have to say it tasted like freshly sweet squeezed oranges, which is always appreciated. Once I was done with the meal and before asking for the check and boxes to go, I was asked if I wanted a pie for dessert and was shown a menu. Unfortunately, I kindly declined - my taste buds aren't too fond of sweets (as you can tell), and I didn't get a pie. Now that I think about it, I wish I wouldve gotten a pie "to go" because I've heard they're extremely good. Hence, their name 😉 Overall, the place was nice and the ambiance was cozy; the staff were very friendly and welcoming; the dish that I ordered (although generous) was no more or less than "okay" and the drinks would be described as "I've had better"; the prices, I felt in my opinion, were a bit high (ex. 1 egg for $3.50). Given that, I'd be interested in coming back and giving their other dishes a try and, most definitely, the next time around, get a piece of that pie.

Let me start by saying that the atmosphere and the service were great. Staff were super friendly and awesome, everything was very clean, and the vibe was chill. We like to a play a game when it comes to receiving the bill. Whoever is closest to guessing the actual amount wins. Our guesses were $60-$70. Mind you, we hadn't really been looking at prices when we initially ordered. We couldn't believe wth we were looking at once we flipped the bill over; $104.34. When we ordered our entrees we weren't told that there would be a surcharge for sides--we were simply asked if we'd like fries, soup, or salad; naturally we assumed that it was included in the entrée cost ($19 for a flipping burger? Is it too much to assume that it WOULD come with a side?). Never even-flipping-mind the cost of coffee O_O. I won't go into severe details about the food itself. What I will say is this: for the Mexican-American palate (my palate) , the food left much to be desired. It was bland to a degree that translated to us throwing in the towel on some of the food (looking at you, Hash Pot Roast and Corn Chowder). This was our first time trying this cafe. We rationalized that "hey, their pies gotta be good at least, right?". So despite the earlier disappointing meal, we agreed that we'd try some desert. Slices of salted honey and coconut key lime pie were our selections. Wth, nothing here makes sense. They didn't taste good. I could only take about 3 bites of my slice. Both were waaay to rich. And the cream didn't taste like what I had expected--it tasted like fat but without any sweetness. Difficult to describe. The person who ordered the coconut keylime pie also shared the same sentiments. I had the slice of pie thrown in the garbage when I got home.

I like the atmosphere here. You can tell whoever decorated the interior put a lot of thought into it. It has a very relaxed homey vibe to it. Lots of plants and cool decor all over the place. The food is pretty good! The short rib had plenty of meat and was balanced well and definitely the better of the two dishes that were ordered. The horseradish cream was a nice touch and they leave it on the side for those who might not like it. The chilaquiles was decent but could be improved. I think refried black beans or something that wasn’t just plain black beans would be a better option. I expected triangle tortilla chips but instead got round theater-style nacho chips which was a let down. The only redeeming quality was the house chorizo which was good. The tomatillo salsa was too acidic because it was just tomatillos in the salsa from what I could taste. Some jalapeños or something else would have balanced that out. The hostess here was really friendly and pleasant! Our waitress was nice as well but the service overall was just okay. Maybe they’re short staffed because we wouldn’t see our server for a long time. Because of that we couldn’t even flag them down if we needed something or when we were ready to pay. Someone else that wasn’t our original server took our check and was gone with our credit card for 10 minutes. Not saying they’re doing anything sketchy but when someone takes your card out of sight for that long it definitely isn’t building any trust with the customer. I would definitely come here again and try something else. A lot of other dishes that I saw being brought to other tables looked awesome. I just think I ordered the wrong thing. Also, don’t sleep on the pies. They’re good.

Great place. Unexpected interior but not in a bad way. It's not fancy, but it's a level up from a diner atmosphere - even with the counter area for eating like the old school diner. On the other side of the wall are 2-person tables and booths. The booth tables are not anchored so you can adjust the position based on the size of the people on each side. HUGE points for that. Our server [Jay - it's been a week so I BELIEVE I'm remembering his name correctly] was awesome. So friendly and so attentive. Made sure we enjoyed our food and answered all of our questions. The food was mostly great. We always check out the menus before we go and it turned out both of us wanted Cubans. They came with fries which LOOKED seasoned, so it was a big disappointment that they were not. Sweet potato maybe? I don't know. But the Cuban was so good that the fries really fell flat. The pie on the other hand was AMAZING. I THINK my friend had the Salted Honey Pie. I know it wasn't a standard pie and she asked what it was. Got Jay's opinion and ended up really liking it. I had the Banana Cream Pie. Oh my word it was SO delicious. So creamy. None of that fake or canned whipped cream. Real whipped cream, whipped thick, stood up through the whole experience. If it wouldn't send my blood sugar into the outer atmosphere I would buy a whole one and just sit on the couch eating it while I watched a movie. Great little place across the street from the library in Bay View. If you don't go for lunch or dinner, at least go get yourself a slice of pie.
