We went on a Monday closer to lunch time with our twin girls age 3 (it was their birthday and our first time going due to my husband whose heard great things from coworkers). When you first enter you’ll get the small bar and the hostess (layout is like a L shape turned left via 90 degrees). They definitely don’t have a large amount of tables maybe just about 20 tables or less. Two unisex gender bathrooms located in the back of the tables. We were seated right away with the server (they only had 1 server and 1 bar attendent that we could see obviously it being a Monday). Server was very nice and helpful asking us if we’ve been there before or not and was knowledgable of what to recommend there thus is which we ended up ordering. If it’s your birthday you get a free dessert hence it was our twin girls so they each get a dessert which they loved.
Tonkostu $14 - more of Japanese style ramen with the clear/gray broth. The pork belly was cooked to perfection which just melts in your mouth but wasn't a fan of the broth. It had a strong taste of seaweed in the broth (there was a piece of seaweed on the bottom of the bowl) that we didn't see until later. Overall 2/5 Taiwanese Guo Bao (pork belly) $10 - the white bun is so soft and has a nice sweetness to it but not overly sweet. The star of the show was the pork belly with the sauce was DELICIOUS, tender, and soft highly recommend to start with this appetizer. Overall 5/5 Xiao Long Bao $13 - they are definitely hot and please be careful when you bite into it, the hot broth does squirt out (hence the warning from our server who recommended ways to eat it). The broth wasn't as strong as I had hoped for it to be it was more of a clear broth with a hint of the meat (tastes like meat boiled in water with salt). The bun itself was soft and chewy to my liking but the meat that was stuffed was plain and shaped like a small circle of the dumpling. Overall 3/5 Yakisoba (chicken) $14 - was recommended for the kids and myself. This stole the show for me with its sunny side egg, flavor, and veggies. My girls actually ate the noodles which was very shocking to us as they're picky eaters on flavor (there's no spice in this dish). Overall 5/5 Carmalized banana lumpia with rice $7 - Not sure if they made their own ice cream but the ice cream drizzled with caramel was the best! The banana lumpia were made with egg roll/spring roll wrappers stuffed with bananas and it was delicious with it being light, crispy, and flaky. I would compare this dessert to crepe texture. Overall 4/5 Fried Mantou with condensed milk $7 - Soft Chinese donuts made fresh! The cinnamon and white sugar was a nice change from the usual white sugar donuts at china buffets. We didn't dunk them in the condensed milk as we knew we weren't a fan of it (we like to do bread with condensed milk instead). Overall 4/5
Overall we were satisfied with the service especially with us being the only ones with...
Read moreI am from California, so I will be missing this location until further notice, but I made sure to go twice before leaving Milwaukee, WI. Delicious food and amazing service every time. The food is always tasting fresh and looks amazing. Staff is very friendly and prompt with their service. They really do take care of you in there. This is not so relevant to the food, but I think it matters and speaks volume about their service and staff. I came straight after work both times, so I was in my work clothes both times and I felt a bit out of place since almost everyone was wearing suits and causal clothes, but the staff made us feel extremely welcomed and treated us amazingly. Not only did they seat us quite fast, but they literally made us feel right at home, and I truly appreciate that.
First time I was there I ordered the Fried Potstickers as an appetizer, and they we’re tasty. They had a nice crunch on the outside and great flavor on the inside. They were also all very generous in size. I’ve had potstickers less than half the size I got here. For my entree, I ordered the Shrimp Tom Yum Soup. It was full of flavor and the lemongrass elevated the entire dish. The soup was fresh and felt very light. It was a bit spicy, which balanced all the fresh ingredients in the soup. The noodles were also very good and perfectly cooked, not to hard and not too soft. Needless to say that I enjoyed every bite of it.
The second time I ordered the Pork Belly Taiwanese Gua Bao as an appetizer, and they were very good. The bun was soft and fluffy. The pork belly was very well marinated and perfectly cooked. The addition of fresh veggie slices balanced the appetizer well. For my entree, I ordered a Jjamppong, which I totally recommend if you’re into spicy shrimp soups. The soup was so delicious and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. I enjoyed this soup very much as well, all the flavor was there. The noodles were thicker than the ones I had previously ordered, but still delicious and would most definitely order it again. To drink I had a Thai iced tea, and it was perfectly sweet and balanced. Their Thai iced tea feels light in my opinion, and not as heavy to the stomach like others I’ve had before (not here). To end the meal, I had a hot blueberry hibiscus tea, and it was the most calming and relaxing experience, especially at the very end of a delicious meal. It tasted great.
I have not tried any of their deserts, but I will next time. Definitely recommend this place. They have amazing food...
Read moreI've never had a WORSE experience at a restaurant. If I could rate 0 or less stars I would. Let me start by saying we had a 5 person reservation at 8pm and even though we arrived on time at 7:55 we were not seated until 8:40pm. We sat next to he host stand and were told that "the next available table would be ours". We sat there and watched group after group after group of people walk up to the host stand be seated before we ever got a table of our own. When we were finally seated at 8:40pm we did not receive any help from any of the wait staff until after 20 minutes of waiting we got fed up with being ignored and physically went back up to the host stand to complain that nobody from the wait staff was stopping by to help us even though all of the tables around us were receiving help from multiple waiters and waitresses. FINALLY at 9pm now a waitress finally stopped by to provide us with some water and we were able to order our drinks, appetizers and our entrees. Our waitress apologized for us having been ignored for so long and offered to provide us with free dessert as compensation. It is now 9:20pm after waiting another 20 minutes and suddenly our entrees were delivered to us before any of our appetizers or our drinks. 5 minutes after that our drinks were delivered along with a couple of the appetizers and about another 5 minutes after that our final appetizer was given to us. We eat our meal for the next 25 or so minutes and then our waitress returns with our bill. We asked her about the free dessert she offered to us to which she replied "sorry the kitchen is already closed" so with that being the case we ask if she can instead take money off of our total bill for how horribly this entire dinner went. She attempts to work with the manager and returns with a bill that has zero compensation on it which is completely unacceptable. We paid the full price of the meal which was over $220 for a dinner for 5 with some of the absolute worst service we have ever had. Myself and the rest of my party will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to...
