I have stayed at this B&B several times over the past three years. I travel for business and after years of being platinum or diplomat at major hotel chains I decided, on a whim, I would try a bed and breakfast and I've never looked back. I have to admit I still collect my points but once I have accumulated enough to take care of my families vacation for the upcoming year I am back to experiencing the local flavor offered by bed and breakfasts. ||Huffman House made my transition easy because it's ran by two hotel professionals who truly understand what guest service is and go above and beyond for everyone who walks through the door. It was odd to think about staying in someone's home but once I experienced the hospitality offered up by the owners and realized this historic home has all the modern conveniences including an en suite bathroom, a TV in each one of their rooms with expanded cable and Wi-Fi with blazing speed.||A couple of unique things about this place is that you get to choose what you want for breakfast, along with what time you would like to eat. By this time I've tried everything on the menu and it is all wonderful but I have to admit my favorite is the pecan Belgian waffle with praline pecan syrup. Although I'm not a big pool person they do have one here and I am planning a getaway with my special someone so that she can experience the service and we can snuggle up together next to the fire pit and listen to the fountains in the pool.||If you're a businessman who travels I highly recommend this place if you were looking for a quiet getaway this old home has been recently updated it is a beautiful area to simply kick...
Read moreI had never been to a bed and breakfast before. But, compared to a hotel/motel (which I've been to several) the Huffman House was a nice change/experience. I've always admired older large homes and have wondered what it would be like to live in one. Our room, was very large with a 4-poster bed, a private bathroom with full bath and shower, a small refrigerator and microwave. The bed was very comfortable. My husband and I were there only for parts of three days as we were in Minden for a wedding. The time we spent was very relaxing as the grounds were in bloom with roses, azaleas and ferns. Sitting on the front porch having coffee and taking in the sites of other beautiful homes surrounding us was a real pleasure. Our hosts were very kind and made us feel welcomed and as valued guests. The breakfast foods were very tasty with generous portions. The weather and time constraints did not allow us to enjoy the pool or outdoor kitchen area but is no doubt a bonus during favorable weather. Although the street view of the Huffman House is beautiful, the interior is decorated to make you feel at home and not too fussy. The only caveat in a 2-3 story home is stairs. Those with bad knees need to inquire as to the location of the room they will be staying in. Overall, we enjoyed the...
Read moreMy Husband and I came to Minden, LA for a family gathering, but it just so happened to be our Anniversary. So, I didn't want to just book any old Hotel, and decided to reserve a room at the Huffman House Bed and Breakfast. The owners Kim and Jim were such a pleasure to work with on arranging this romantic weekend for us. The Huffman House was extremely comfortable and remarkably beautiful and maintained to perfection. We were able to have our coffee on the porch under the beautiful shade trees. Breakfast each and every morning was delicious, and Kim's jam's and jelly's were fabulous along with a very generous portion. Conversation with the owners was also very enjoyable. This was a wonderful experience for us, and have Kim and Jim to thank. Your hospitality and thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated. Thanks you guys so much. Dave...
