My girlfriend and I just ate here. It’s Sunday afternoon, so an afternoon church crowd was expected. This was my first and definitely last time eating here. As we walked into the restaurant, we were confused if we should wait to be seated or to just seat ourselves. I noticed a waitress wiping down tables. I asked if we chose our own seats, or waited to be seated. She looked at me, and she looked just as confessed as I. We waited approximately 5 mins. It wasn’t as busy as I thought it may be. Our waitress, Melissa, was quick to ask for our orders. I had the Taco Salad, and my girlfriend had the chicken quesadillas. We were served our drinks after a few mins, along with complimentary chips and salsa. The bowls she brought out with them, were dirty. Our waitress returned 10 mins later to take our order. We sat in a booth and I had a clear eyesight into part of the kitchen. I noticed that no one cooking was wearing aprons or gloves. I observed the “chef” using his bare hands to pick up raw chicken and then, bell peppers. Cross contamination much? We waited maybe 15 mins for our food, and it wasn’t worth the wait. My 1 tomato that went with my salad was slimy, as if it was frozen then thawed out. The beef tasted like it wasn’t fresh and my girlfriend’s chicken quesadillas were covered in oil and her peppers were burnt! They were no longer green. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and I’m guessing from the lack of staff, because we only seen 2 waitress during our visit. She kept standing by our booth, trying to change all the channels in the dining area, and trying to seat people as well. Very unorganized, the food was subpar and the service was not the best I’ve received. Also, it was so dark inside, you could barely see your food. I like to see what I’m eating, but that’s just me. Definitely could use some organization and standard food handling classes, in my opinion. Chavos, in my opinion, is a much...
Read moreIf I could give a place 10 stars this would place would get it. My husband and I have had Mexican food at the best places in New Orleans and in Manhattan Beach, but this place trumps all of them. We walked in and we were greeted and seated. The place was CLEAN, IMMACULATE! They have the best artwork all over the walls, exotic like straight from Mexico. Then our waitress Alexis, so sweet and attentive, she made sure we were happy, warm fresh chips and the best salsa made fresh I have ever eaten was brought to our table instantly, the queso was just right, I knew the food was gonna be top notch. I ordered a frozen lime Marguerita and I had the shrimp chimichanga My hubby had the seafood chimichanga...so delish, it was hot when it came out and was still warm by the time I almost finished. All the food we had and salsa was perfectly seasoned, you can tell they take pride in their cooking and presentation. When we got the bill, that was the best part, it was reasonably priced, just right for what we ordered. I stopped going and recommending alot of places because they overcharge and it is not even with the services or goods. This place is not overly priced or under priced, it's just right. We will be back and we will send everyone we know that will be in that...
Read moreAfter ordering a Togo order and one of my items being wrong, I brought the item back to get the food I ordered. While waiting for my food to be cooked I received a call about the other food at home with my mother and child having a burnt taste. After leaving the establishment and going back home to get the rest of the order. When I returned the hostess took the food to the back and the manager brought the food to the front counter and stated that it was not burnt. I advised him that although it didn’t look burnt the food had a scorched taste to it. He then stated that it’s cooked on the grill, which still doesn’t mean that it should have a burnt taste to it. I’ve ordered plenty of rancheros from this establishment and none of them have ever tasted this way. He stated that he wasn’t going to continue throwing food away, which was not my problem, because your workers aren’t able to get their jobs right. After continuing to insist that he try it for himself he continued blaming me for bringing the food back that I paid for. He then tried to issue me a half refund for the order and stated he didn’t want me back at his establishment, which was no problem because after this encounter I wouldn’t dare return. Needless to say I got my full refund and won’t...
