If you’re looking for a delightful breakfast experience, this charming little restaurant is an absolute must-visit! From the moment we stepped inside, the inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for a memorable meal. We started off with their famous biscuits and gravy, which truly exceeded our expectations. The biscuits were wonderfully fluffy, smothered in a rich and savory gravy that was bursting with flavors, each bite was like a warm hug on a plate.

Next up was the quiche, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of fabulous! The flaky crust cradled a creamy filling packed with a fresh sald and just the right amount of cheese, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that left us craving more. It was a beautiful presentation, too, making it almost too good to eat.

To complement our delicious meal, we decided to indulge in some bubbly mimosas. The refreshing mix of sparkling wine and freshly squeezed orange juice added a joyful sparkle to our brunch, making everything taste even better. It was the perfect accompaniment to our generous spread.

Our experience was further enriched by our server, Maggie, who was simply fantastic. With her warm smile and attentive nature, she made us feel right at home. Maggie offered amazing recommendations that helped us navigate the menu, ensuring we didn’t miss out on any hidden gems. Her knowledge of the dishes and enthusiasm for the food truly enhanced our experience.

One thing to keep in mind is the parking situation. The area can get a bit tight, especially during the busy brunch hours, so arriving early or being prepared to search for a spot is a good idea. Despite that small hiccup, the delicious food, great service, and vibrant atmosphere made it all worth it. If you’re in the mood for a delightful breakfast that will leave you satisfied and smiling, this restaurant is definitely the...

Yes I'm just another local given this place five stars because it deserves it. Just for the simple fact, that it offers a side salad, that it lists on the menu as a "simple salad". I have been using that very same term for a decade, for a salad with 3 toppings or less no meat. So they had me at that. The food is absolutely top notch, local flare home cooking, without too many choices which always dilutes the quality of all options. This is a classic case of less is actually more. Less choices means each thing on the menu is absolutely fabulous. Take for example, the brisket and swiss on toast with horseradish. If you like horseradish, and you know who you are, you are most likely going to get disappointed when some restaurant offers horseradish on a sandwich. You will not be disappointed here. If you kind of like horseradish, and enjoy it anytime it is offered on any restaurant other than here, you will want to steer away from this sandwich, because it was not made for you. We also got the bacon blue fries. It was immense, intense, delicious, and absolutely too much to eat all at once. Sadly these kind of hand-cut fries do not reheat well. So we ate as many as we could, my wife at the end of this affair, clearly stated that she was about to pop. My three-year-old, because it was Tuesday, ate for free. She had the Swedish meatballs mashed potatoes gravy with green beans, and a homemade chocolate chip cookie, which was actually a homemade chocolate chip cookie and tasted like it. Anybody who eats at restaurants knows that cookies at restaurants suck, primarily because they're not homemade. This place earns its ranks and reviews by being simple smart local and brilliant. If you visit you will like it, if you live here, you should patronize this place, if you don't already. And if you do, you should come here more often than...

We moved to the neighborhood in 2022 and since have been to Hazel's 4 times. It is about a 3-4 block walk from us so I'll start by saying that I really wanted to like Hazel's but every experience has been super lack luster.

First experience was for breakfast, we were meeting with friends that we hadn't seen in a while. Food was mediocre and the server informed us right after we finished our food that there was an hour limit and that we would need to wrap up, pay, and leave. I get it is a small establishment but that is just an aweful customer experience, especially when the food and service is not special.

Most recently went for dinner, I ordered the walleye fish and chips and as I cut into the walleye for the firsr bite I discovered a long hair baked into the fried fish. It completely ruined my appetite. On top of that, the server made zero accomodation for menu adjustment. I asked if they could do a half sized ceasar and they said "no, we can't". I could understand this with another, more complex dish, but this is literally one of the most common salads and so easy to just make a half portion. Most restaurants this is a non-issue.

IMO there are so many other places with better food, better service, better atmosphere and better customer service. Hazel's is mediocre in every way and they really try to play up this "quaint small neighborhood restairant" atmosphere and vibe but they don't back that up with anything that really matters.

Made the decision I won't be going back. Parkway pizza is right next door and significantly better in every way. Do yourself a favor and spend your money and breakfast/lunch/dinner at a better...

Update: It's been a while since I've been here, but as it turns out it's highly recommended that you have reservations now. The hostess looked at me like I was crazy for walking in and seeing if I and my kids could get a bite to eat ad-hoc. I get it, but makes me feel a little sad. Hazel's is a wonderful place and I have done little to acknowledge it in my previous reviews. They have amazing food and the service on average has been at the 4.3/5 level most of the time. They have had an amazing set of unique dishes over the past couple years that I've been going there. In particular, I love their biscuits and gravy and it has exceeded expectations every time I've been there. I hope they never replace it. This time I tried the hash and loved it as well. Evet day they offer specials and they have a rotating tap of local beers. I love this place and it has such a rich history in NE Minneapolis, I always bring friends and family when we can get there. They have so many amazing meals I have yet to find something I didn't like. In covid world ... You MUST make a reservation, they have changed their processes multiple times as a result of the changing restrictions across the state and so it's a must to check before you go. They offer delivery and were there in time to the minute and the food was delicious! Even on a Sunday. They have order pick up as well so you have multiple options to consider.
