I was in the mood for a great cup of coffee. So I quickly found this place and oh boy was I excited. Parking was easy right out front. The idea struck me as a great concept. I can't wait to bring my kids after covid. Walking in I can always tell the quality of the coffee. The aroma was like walking into a crisp summer morning. I met the man who introduced himself and asked me how my day was going. Very important because he made you want to be here. That's something corporate coffee shops wont do. I told him it was my first time and I was excited. He took me through his drip coffees and had them clearly labeled as to origin. Very important if you love coffee the way I do. He then asked me what I liked. See it's hard ordering off a menu with so many options but taking a customer first approach was so great. He began making my coffee and quickly noticed I was eyeing up the baked goods. He introduced me to my options. Very importantly he knew exactly what was in each one. The coffee is amazing hands down one of the best cups I've ever had. The baked goods are a dream come true in your mouth. If you want to experience the greatest coffee with a humble friends and family touch. I insist you give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. Oh and the price just incase your wondering was cheap compared to other small businesses coffee...
Read moreThis place is the best! I would go here every day if I could. They have the best food and coffee - and their prices are lower than chain shops. They have a great (sometimes very busy) playroom for young kids. Wisely it has only one exit and its own bathroom. Parents can actually relax and drink coffee while their kids play. There is also a larger, quieter room for chatting or working. We get the Sumtra beans for coffee at home, but in house I like the cafe miel or a "real" caramel macchiato (with no milk). The baked goods are to die for and big enough to share - or not. There are also many food options for various diets: vegetarian, vegan, gluten free (try the cookies), plant based. We sometimes grab dinner here on busy days. I get a salad sampler to share with a cup of soup. This is one of the few places we can eat out and I know my kids will eat a ton of veggies. Our favorites: curried cauliflower salad, basalmic roasted brussel sprouts, Greek orzo salad, tabouleh, spinach pie, and the best hummus I've had in my life. They also have a selection of sandwiches, quiche, and soups. The Turkish lentil soup is healthy and just spicy enough. Come check it out and prepare to become a regular! (Cash preferred, but they accept...
Read moreMy wife recently visited Sovereign with our daughter, who has epilepsy and is accompanied by her fully trained service dog. Unfortunately, their experience left us feeling deeply unsettled. The owner of the café asked multiple times if the dog was a “real” service animal and whether the dog was well-behaved. While it’s understandable that businesses want to maintain a safe environment, repeatedly questioning the legitimacy of a service dog reflects a lack of understanding about the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities. 💡 Under both the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Minnesota Human Rights Act, service animals are legally permitted in public accommodations, including coffee shops. Service dogs are highly trained to behave appropriately and assist their handlers—this should not require constant justification. I believe the owner and staff at Sovereign would benefit from additional education and training regarding service animal laws and disability inclusion. This would go a long way in making the café a more welcoming and informed space for all families. 🐾 If you or a loved one relies on a service dog, be aware that this establishment may not yet be fully prepared to accommodate your needs...
