Dined there last night with my partner and 4 others. I feel I should preface that I have eaten at a lot of WI supper clubs over the years and think it a difficult thing to replicate, especially in a city where dining experience and food quality is such a competitive venture. In the rural Midwest the expectations are quite different for what "a nice dinner" consists of, so importing that vibe and elevating the food I feel is a bit tricky! That said, I have to say my expectations were blown out of the water. Everything was very good; from the dim ambiance to the fried fish. The decor checked the boxes from old-timey beer signs, to taxidermy, to the dark carpeting, to grandma approved folk art. I hope they keep antiquing to up the game here, keep in mind, most of the legendary supper clubs have been around for over 50 years (frozen in time) and that is why they are so unique and unparalleled in their unique eclecticism.

We were pleasantly greeted and shown to the lounge to get a cocktail whilst we waited for the rest of our party. Our first round of "Wisconsin style Old Fashioned sours" were good... but not on par with the real thing. Bitters maybe? Squirt? Or maybe the sugar used in muddling (Later I had one with all the sugar at the bottom and thought it might be sweet and low). I know the exact ratio of ingredients in this recipe is kinda regional so I didn't dwell on it too much. They were good enough. We were sat and waited on by Chris who was lovely throughout our experience. We were seated at a cozy 6-top in the corner by the fireplace. I would say the table was just barely big enough for 6 with cocktails and food. Chairs were comfy and rolling casters we all agreed were clutch. Apps were spot on, they really know how to fry stuff here! Possibly the best onions rings we've had. Cheese curds were top 5 material. Trout spread was delicious. Pickled asparagus tangy and the ubiquitous marbled rye was not bland. Sadly the popovers were unavailable that evening but I will certainly go back to try them. Why is a good popover in this city so hard to find these days!? Our entrees spanned the gambit; fried cod, orzo salad, pork chop, grilled salmon, crab stuffed walleye. Once again the fryer cook and batter recipe were super on point (I had cod and hash-browns). Everyone loved what they had and remarked at the excellent preparation and portions. We finished with whiskey old fashioned and a grasshopper, both spot on. I would offer that adding a little more for vegetarians would be a thoughtful touch.

All in all just a great evening out with friends at the Creekside. A cozy and comfortable night that made us forget we were in the city for a couple of hours. We...

I have been to Creekside a handful of times and have always had a 5 Star experience. I would rave about it to my friends and family that they needed to try. This past time that I went to Creekside on 4/20 did not live up to expectations. When my group of 4 arrived just before our 7pm reservation I was told that my table was not ready just yet. Not a big deal as my group went to the bar to grab a drink. At the bar we were told they were out of most tap beer because this was their "transition" time from what the bar tender explained. That was a little annoying as we had to find our 4th and 5th best option. My table was finally ready at 7:25pm. At this point I don't understand having a reservation. After finally being seated we were ready to order as we all knew what we want. First before we were going to give the waiter our order he explained that the kitchen was out of their filet. That was frustrating as we chose Creekside because one person in our group only likes filet. Then we had to relook at the menu again to decide what to have and that person had to settle on Fish (Disappointing since its a supper club). The male waiter we had was very sporadic at our table and did not do a great job waiting on us. As I mentioned that I have been there before and had the lady with the short black hair. She was such an amazing waitress and noticed she was working when I was there. I was bummed that we did not get her as a waitress as the experience would have been better with her. The waiter brought French Onion soup for half the table and then brought a salad and broccoli cheddar for the other half 5min later. The waiter never mentioned that we could not substitute French Onion soup for a side that already comes with our main entree, so had to pay full price for it. After we got our food, which I had the prime rib was just Ok. The kitchen put the Au Jus over the steak, which I didn't ask them for or it never came that way previously when I have ordered it. I was just overall disappointed in the service at Creekside. I noticed their prices have significantly increased over the last year, which is fine as long as you are providing a great service, which my group and I did not get. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back and will tell friends and family to steer clear...

I took a friend from out of town here. It was my first visit. Host was great. We were seated at a nice table outside right away. After that, service was very disjointed. Had to wait a long time for water, our cocktails came before our water, and we waited probably 10 minutes for those. I had a house salad with my meal, my friend had ordered a wedge salad. My salad came out. Her's did not. Then our server told us a printer wasn't working in the kitchen, so our food would take longer to come out. I had also ordered a popover, which was an appetizer. This came out at the same time as our entrees. Still no wedge salad. Another server came by with more cocktails, they weren't ours. A staff member came to refill our waters. Refilled my water over my food, splashing water around as he was doing so. Barely missing getting it into my food. Our second drinks came. We were almost done with our entrees. Still no wedge. Our server apologized again. Now we were told there was a fire in the kitchen. Finally, a few minutes later the wedge finally appeared. We didn't order any additional food, and we got our checks. Server took our payments, returned with change for my friend, and my credit card and slip. No pen included with the slip. I had to ask, and the server had to go find a pen. Also, they did not have proper change for my friend who paid in cash. The popover was good, but the rest of the food was just ok. My friend's steak was ordered medium rare, and came out well. I ordered the fried perch, but I think I was actually served the cod, and batter was soggy, not crisp. With all these issues, I wouldn't recommend this place, and wouldn't go again. Which is sad, because it's in my neighborhood and I like to support local businesses. Maybe it was an off night, but really seemed like too much to write it off as that. Two stars, only because staff was friendly and...

I wanted to give a 5 star review, but need to give it a 4 because my entree was terrible. Our server was awesome. He was attentive but not overbearing. He allowed us to enjoy every course without interruptions. We shared the apple walnut salad, which was absolutely delicious. Definetly a shareable salad. I cannot recommend the popovers enough. They were fresh and hot, and the honey butter was the icing on the cake. Excellent, excellent, excellent! The beer cheese soup is delicious also. I would have preferred popcorn as the topping vs croutons, but even without it, it tasted great. As for the entrees, I ordered the fried shrimp and my husband had the fish fry. The shrimp had several layers of fried breading, and it wasn't very good. It appeared that it was likely beer battered and fried several times. Parts of the batter flaked off and other parts were chewy. Yes I know I should have said something to our server but I didn't. Out of the 6 shrimp I only ate two. The rest I gave to my husband. I was pretty disappointed, but the first 3 courses were so delcious that I felt bad saying something. Overall, I say you should definitely give this place a try. We want to go back and order steaks or chops. Those looked mouth watering delcious. My husband had to snap a photo of the bathroom because they were covered in Patrick Swayze photos, which I thought was hysterical.

All was great from the start & continued til the close of our evening. 8 of us for a birthday. Hostess knows her job & handled the busy evening well. Bartenders attentive and make a damn good Old-Fashioned. Our waiter, Noah & the bus/water person also very attentive & professional; I ALWAYS appreciate pre-bussing throughout the meal!! Everyone thought their food was great: corn chowder was more creamy than expected and had a slightly sweet flavor, very good. Popovers - just get them already! top sirloin cooked just how we ordered (very good cut of meat, btw), Also recommend the fried perch and the beer-battered shrimp (battered in-house) and I always dunk my battered shrimp in melted butter (naughty, I know but oh-so-nummy!). The grasshoppers & pink squirrels were 'ok' - I've had better as these were very runny like a thin malt and not super flavorful but refreshing/soothing on our very full bellies! I heard the Men's restroom has MUCH better wall decor than our Ladies' so would like to see that updated! ;-) Highly recommend Creekside as all of this is offered at reasonable prices too!

Like stepping back in time a bit walking into this place. The rolling chairs in the dining room will take you back, if the vintage TV room in the waiting area doesn't. The water fountain in the waiting area would be nice if it wasn't so dusty, but that's not why we were there. The food was pretty good. Got the relish tray to start. The cheese curds were a hit, but that salmon spread on the marble rye was a fan favorite. The popovers arrived next and they're exactly what you hope for in a popover. The grilled shrimp was a good sized meal. Highly recommend upgrading to the twice baked potato. The pork schnitzel was comfort food at its finest. The kids menu was extensive with even a grilled salmon option, which our kid demolished. Every entree comes with either soup or salad to start. They didn't have vinaigrette dressing, but had the staples (Italian, ranch and blue cheese). The soup of the day was a vegetable medley with a tomato base and it was petty good. Service was prompt and attentive.
