The Sidecar offers something awesome that south Minneapolis has lacked so far too long. Amazing cocktails in a wonderful space.

Between Town Hall Tap and The Parkway Theater, The Sidecar is a relaxed lounge that offers delicious drink action, along with wine, spirits, and craft beer from the best brewpub in town (Town Hall Brewery).

The cocktail menu offers great variety, with classics, their own options, a whole page of honey hyped (changing seasonal selection and each of those using a different type of honey) to a great red and white wine list, along with Town Hall beers and other beverages.

They do have a few but great food options. Fries, an amazing burger, sliders, and a couple other choices. Perfect for a cocktail bar.

The space is so cool. Laid back, modern but vintage. So comfortable, warm and welcoming. The space is great and the staff are awesome. They’re happy to serve up anything you like or put a spin on something you’d like to explore.

The Sidecar is an awesome new addition to the south Minneapolis area. Spectacular cocktail action in a great spot....

The good. Very cool atmosphere, chill vibe tunes, good drink menu.

The bad. The two female bartenders were probably the least friendly and welcoming of any I have experienced in decades. We walked in the door and were told to go to a table in back. We said we were just coming in for a quick drink and could we sit at the bar to which we were literally given the brush off. Never seen anything like it. The guy who was our server at the table was fine. Oh, I also walked up to the bar (it was our first time going there) to look at their inventory of spirits; stood at the bar without a drink in my hand while the two bartenders washed and dried glasses 5 feet from me. Stood there for at least two minutes without either acknowledging me. Well played ladies, you lost four customers...

Been at the Sidecar a lot (20+ times). Nice interior aesthetic with reel-to-reel music playing.

Cocktails are $15-$17+ when they should be $12-14 max. Zero originality when asking for a drink off menu (literally..."I don't know how to make that."). Consistently crap service. Blonde young bartender was extremely rude and on her phone when patrons were waiting to order. I am friends with service industry folks and they all agree the service at Sidecar is shockingly bad. For industry folks to say that...no bueno.

Save your money and go to Town Hall Tap next door. Same owners but the staff are nice and aren't dismissive. Unjustifiably bad service at Sidecar.

Alternatively hit the Creekside Supper Club bar two buildings down. Better food and the bartenders are actually...

The sidecar is exactly like what you might thing. A long, slender, shotgun style addition to The Tap. Very cozy. Nice bar. Clean bathrooms. Ample street parking parking after 5pm. I went on trivia night, and there were many teams playing. They have a two plate turn table where you can have your own records played during trivia. The sound system is ample, and not booming, quite good actually. The cocktails are great, ample amounts of alcohol, good ice ratio. The whiskey cocktail came with a square ice cube which looked and functioned nicely. I chatted with a friend for about two hours, without my voice going horse so that was great. The food menu looked tasty as well, but I didn't try anything.

The Sidecar at the Tap is the cocktail bar Field Regina Northrop has been missing. With twenty unique cocktails, beer, wine, and a just-right sized food menu, there's something for everyone, and it all tastes delicious. The establishment is beautifully decorated and has multiple seating arrangements from bars along several walls to a lounging couch and regular tables. I've tried four different cocktails and have particularly enjoyed the Pariso and Thin Ricky. Additionally, I have ordered the tenderloin sliders and Bolognese dishes both times and will likely continue to do so at every visit - they are superb. Please give this spot a try and make sure it becomes what it deserves.
