I'll start by saying it takes a lot for me to take the time to post about an experience. But my goodness. The positive impression this place left on me is one I will probably never get again. I was greeted immediately upon entering and was made room for a spot at the bar by the bartender who I later found out was one of the owners. Throughout my time there, I was given a scotch sample out of the blue, asked what my name was and why I came in, asked to sign a guest book which was presented to me at the bar...and honestly have never felt more welcome in an establishment. Plus, it is incredibly decorated with Irish/MN/Welsh flare which gives it marvelous character. Come support these people. We need more of them in the...

I experienced my first visit to The Prodigal Public House this afternoon. If you have not been there it is a quaint, welcoming, smallish in size but big on atmosphere place where you will feel right at home.  Much like a pub you would stumble upon in Ireland or the UK. It's almost like going over to a friend's house for drinks. Except here, your friends are the owners themselves and the other customers that talk amongst themselves like they've known each other forever. The food was excellent, and selection of scotch & whiskey is vast. Lots of other libations available also. If you are in the Whittier neighborhood (one block from the Black Forest Inn) don't pass up the chance to visit...

Having last visited Minneapolis over 10 years ago, I was looking for a local gem that reflected the community I once lived in. Absolutely, the Prodigal Public House fit the bill.

Though the House was recently established, it felt as if its been in the neighborhood forever, with regulars--that occupied almost the entire bar-top --welcoming a stranger with me with (literally) open arms. A great community bar, with countless recurring stories I'm sure running through here.

Squirrel, the surly yet not really surly bartender, like all great bartenders--didn't phase when it got busier and busier. Food was excellent--my first cheese curds in...

The Prodigal Pub is my Cheers bar. Even when someone is new to the place you instantly feel like family. And this isn't the kind of family you are born into, more like the kind of family you've deserved all along. The staff and the patrons are all so warm and welcoming. And fun! You feel right at home when you walk in the door. Like the friendliest UK pub you've ever been to. Great tap beers and cocktails. The pot pies are to die for. And if you're having a rough day just pull up a bar stool at the Prodigal and let the Prodigal family cheer you up. Tell them Keith sent you...
