Such a great idea for a restaurant! I've never seen gyro, taco, and reuben all on the same menu. The prices are very fair. My boyfriend ate two rolls for lunch, I had the fish sandwich, and we ordered two other rolls to heat up for dinner. Our favorite was the Mac n cheese, followed by the taco, then the reuben, but they were all delicious. As for the fish sandwich, next time I come back to this restaurant, I'll stick with the fantastic rolls, because the fish was a bit rubbery and the fries were soft, although that could be a functioning of getting takeout and driving twenty minutes before eating it. The rolls heated up really well in the oven though, so if you're getting takeout, I highly recommend getting the rolls (it's also kind of the speciality of the restaurant). I also got some caramel cake, which was absolutely delicious- even my boyfriend who doesn't really like caramel was into it. As of this posting, the complete menu isn't available through the online ordering system, so I ordered over the phone and had no issues getting through. However, I think it's harder for the restaurant when you order over the phone, because then they don't have an automated system telling the cooks to get your food ready. I hope they eventually partner with a service to expand their delivery area, so I can order from them even when I don't have time to drive across town. Given the current need for social distancing, it's been hard to find restaurants with food that travels well, but this is one I'll come back to again and again over the coming months and years. It would also be a great place to pick up food that you plan on eating later, because it heats up so well...
Read moreI was visiting Minneapolis for a few days and was looking for places to hit up to eat at so I found this place from a list from the Star Tribune. Interesting concept to make giant egg rolls with various fillings. This was the first place I ate at in Minneapolis which has a great foodie scene. I had to make it here first because they close at 6PM. So after checking in to my hotel I headed over to Wendy’s House of SOUL. The restaurant itself is very lively. Very nice decor and the music was great, 70’s & 80’s music which set the vibe. I was able to meet and speak with the chef and owner herself, Ms Wendy Puckett. There were so many things that sounded good that I wanted to try I had a hard time choosing. But since it was late afternoon and I had dinner reservations I could only have one item. So after asking Chef Wendy what was the most popular roll I decided on the Nanny Roll which has mac & cheese, greens, ad fried chicken. The Nanny Roll was very good although I do wish it had a bit more fried chicken. Had a side of soul sauce to dip it into which was good. I also ordered a piece of caramel cake to take for later which was nice. I wish there was a Wendy’s House of SOUL in Vegas or that I visited Minneapolis more often so I could try much of the menu. From the reviews I have read I’m sure my rating could only get better. So if you need a place to Get Yo Groove On (a Prince reference and the reason I’m in town) for some soul food, good music and vibes head to Wendy’s...
Read moreI’m not sure whether I would recommend this place. I called in to order a couple of their famous “soul rolls” for pick up. They told me it would take 10 minutes and it was going to take me 30 minutes to get there. When I got there, the woman at the front didn’t greet me. She just stared at me with some thick false lashes. I said I had an order for pick up and she told the cook to make it... it wasn’t ready and so I waited another 10 minutes, which isn’t a big deal, but there wasn’t an apology for not having it ready after they said it would have been. They weren’t even busy. Anyways, I got my order and took it home. When I opened it up, there was an eyelash on the sauce container! On the container, I can look pass but the overall experience wasn’t the greatest. Food wise, I don’t see what all the hype is about the soul rolls. I got the nanny roll which has chicken, Mac and cheese, and greens. It was ALL macaroni. Wheres the cheese?! If anyone eats greens, you know that greens have a very distinctive taste and I didn’t get that at all in this roll. And for the chicken, I had maybe three pieces of diced chicken in the whole roll. But the most disappointing part was the “soul” sauce. This was some Asian sweet and sour sauce with maybe some red pepper flakes. Big...
