To the owner Dean: I hope you see this, because we’ve always respected you and enjoyed coming here—but your front host is driving people away. This is not the first time we’ve had issues with her, but today was the last straw. The older lady with glasses, and long gray hair.
We waited over 10 minutes while she ignored us and rang up customer after customer—including people who walked up well after we did. No greeting, no acknowledgment, no explanation. Just being flat-out dismissed.
We stood there waiting for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgment. I finally said, “We’re leaving—you’re so rude!” because it made no sense that she kept cashing people out instead of seating us, even though we had clearly been waiting. When I came back in and asked to speak to the owner (who we’ve met before and is always very kind), she outright refused. I asked multiple times, and each time she told me no.
I explained how unprofessional it was to keep helping people who arrived after us, and her response was, “If I seat you, I’d have to set you up, and I don’t want to make them wait. I'm going to cash them out. ” That logic made no sense. So it's okay to make us wait instead? I asked, “Why didn’t you ask a server or someone from the back to help? That's what we do where I work. We acknowledge people and take care of them.” No response that made any sense, just continued to argue with me and it got heated. It was absolutely ridiculous how she kept arguing with me over us waiting so long and her continuance of cashing out. Where I work it is who is in line in order of walking up. Her logic made no sense at all. Then to blatantly ignore my request to speak to the owner. Then as I'm walking out the door she offers a manager. I had asked multiple times and you kept arguing with me! I said I had enough of you I'm never coming back.
What made it worse was that she continued to argue with me instead of trying to resolve the issue or even just apologize. The whole situation left a really bad impression, and honestly, it seems like she’s not suited for a customer-facing role.
We love this place and have always enjoyed the food and the owner, but this kind of treatment makes us say we aren't coming back. I will say I've had friends, co-workers, and family say the same thing about her. I'm sincere when saying we aren't...
Read moreI am so sorry to say that this was the worst experience I have had in Minot. Went on a Sunday right after church. It was a 20-minute wait, but I didn't mind after looking at the menu. I am looking forward to some hot,fluffy pancakes and advertised smoke bacon. I was drooling anticipating the Homestead hospitality. Well, I quess I shouldn't have had my hopes too high. Our waitress was somewhat evasive, and honestly I felt somewhat uncomfortable after observing her behavior, but my hunger allowed me to be patient enough to order after 20 minutes of waiting to order, and it took an additional 30 minutes to get our order. We watched 3 tables seated after us got their food before us. I had to go to the cashier's counter just to request our server, and when she addressed us she stated she didn't know what happened to our order by this time the food was being delivered and if it had been what I ordered, I could have easily forgotten about the wait ordeal, however, the food was horrible. I ordered the 3 egg bacon&cheese omlette, w/pancakes. The omelets looked like one fried egg with ham pieces and a slice of cheese on top and the pancakes appeared to have been smashed flat, gummy and tasted horrible. My daughter ordered the vegetable omelet, and it was gross looking,with the French toast. Although the meal came with pancakes, she ordered the French toast because we witnessed her serving someone else, and we thought it looked delicious. I think we spent 5 minutes attempting to eat and I personally was so disappointed that I left the restaurant to warm the car while my daughter finished up with the bill. She stated on their behalf that they gave us a discount, but I was upset that we chose this place instead of Dennys for breakfast. My best experience there was getting to know a lady...

Waited to be sat for 10 min. while the worker stood and rudely answered the phone multiple times(had a rude tone with people on phone)..didn't put them on hold with 4 customers waiting right in front of her..other worker comes says whos next my husband raised his hand and said "us" as another man also said he thought we were and pointed to us, she stood there and just said "next" again and when she went to sit us down she just seemed so angry and bothered by showing us a table to sit at and she got us water but never brought straws and the cups looked dirty. When ordering she kept cutting us off and had a rude tone on her voice and again seemed angry and when bringing us our food the other woman who was in the front came with her and they were tossing the plates down in front of us and dropped my husbands toast off the plate just said "whoops" shrugged sat it back on the plate didn't say sorry or offer another piece of toast(tables looked decent..but who wants their food thrown on the table)..when my husband went to pay the worker was very rude with him and tossed his card back to him when she was done and WATCHED him like a hawk as he wrote the tip down and then says "soo...$10?"..not to mention the food was gross and I will never go back here nor would I recommend it to anyone ever...I don't even care their prices are fair...it definetly does not make up for the bad quality food...
