Original Post: The pictures are from my first visit. I can't count how many times I've dined with TJS. Good food as usual. It was a gut check to only get one cluster of snow crabs on a 40 dollar plate. Just make sure that whatever you do, you try the juicy special seasoning and get some boiled eggs.
Update: We dined at TJS for our oldest sons birthday at his request. The food was just ok this visit. We were fine with the 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. However what I was not ok with was paying a $44 gratuity and receiving horrible service. Our waitress stayed long enough to bring the food, then disappeared. My husband's cup was empty shortly after getting our food....no refills. I ordered a beer and asked her to bring it with my food. No beer. It took 10 minutes just to catch up to her. I still had to ask 3 times in total for one drink. My husbad was thirsty and ready to go because of the poor service. We went to the counter to check out. Our waitress was sitting down in the front waiting area having a good time. When we walked up she hopped up and took off. No thank you for the $44 she didn't work for or anything. I made sure to follow up with the manager. She just said "I'll talk to her" without knowing who "she" was. Again, no problem paying a gratuity but it should atleast come with better service if we are forced to tip a certain percentage. We did not leave any extra tip.
Another note: I didn't realize how much skrinkflation had made it into restaurants. No fault of their own, but for the weekend special to be so skimpy, but still $43 is wild. I think I'm done for a while. For now I can't and won't dine or recommend TJS. If I ever go back I'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCatfish po boy couldnāt be blackened because they have no grill? Seemed odd. But I donāt really get into boiled seafood. So I went with it. Was just ok. Ordered the hush puppies as an appetizer as others on here have said they are excellent. But they were pretty ordinary, nothing different from the hush puppies at CookOut locations. Had hoped for some herbs or spices in the hush puppy batter but itās just basic cornmeal fried. Since I couldnāt get blackened fish and wanted some spice I asked for the Cajun fries with my meal. No spice at all. Not what Iād expect from Cajun fries. Attention to detail also was a disappointment. Asked for no tomatoes on my po boy. Came with tomatoes. Kitchen or the waitress not paying attention. Just really an average to mediocre experience. And there are two excellent options two miles down the road in The Boiling Pot, superb inexpensive seafood in cafeteria setting and Halfshell a block from Boiolomh Pot which is more expensive and more fine dining. Recommend both over this location. One caveat - I donāt usually go for boiled seafood. It seems to be a huge focus of their menu. So there may be reasons to give them a shot if you like a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI tried The Juicy Seafood for the first time today and was initially looking forward to it but ended up leaving pretty disappointed.
Our order: fried shrimp poboy w/ cajun fries + sweet tea 6 juicy special wings + regular fries + sprite 10 hushpuppies
The wings were not bad and the "juicy special" sauce (basically every possible steamed seafood seasoning mixed together) was actually pretty decent. We had ordered cajun fries with the shrimp poboy but only received regular fries and they were just alright. The hushpuppies were good. My shrimp poboy was not good at all though - the shrimp tasted like something you would find sitting out all day at a low-quality Chinese buffet. My fiancee and I both ended up leaving feeling pretty sick. It was not worth the $40 we paid.
Atmosphere - neat, pop music playing lightly in background. 4/5 Service - great (for the most part - ended up feeling a bit rushed). 4/5 Menu/selection - variety of steamed and fried seafood. Could use another non-seafood option besides chicken tenders. 4/5 Prices - decent prices for steamed seafood, average for fried items. 4/5 Food - everything alright besides...
