Update: I just now reviewed my e-reciept after paying via phone and QR code scanner. To my surprise I was charged for a dessert we neither ordered or received. Obviously it is now too late to dispute, but im NOT please with an eight dollar charge for something not ordered!!
Ugh, I really don't like giving less than great reviews but I had to bite the bullet on this one and overall I'd say 3.5āļø First time eating here, will it be the last? Unsure. We were seated near immediately, luckily we got there before the dinner crowd. Our server (apologies as I didn't catch her name) was very friendly. We couldn't be more pleased with her. The fried pickles were š„FIREš„ and the salads were good and fresh. The lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers were crsip, cool and fresh, not soggy and browned. The main plates came quicker than I expected. I had the cowboy ribeye and while it was cooked a perfect medium rare, something was off about it. It looked more like it was boiled first, then slapped onto a grill. It was kind of pale vs having a nice bark from grilling. The taste was very plain, I had to salt it pretty good. She got the fillet, ordered it medium and as soon as she touched it to cut, she said it was undercooked. Once cut, it was rare and mooing more than even I like. That said, when the server checked with us, she immediately returned it and the manager returned the fillet that was now perfectly cooked. We both had a sweet potato as a side and those were cooked perfectly, sliding right out of the skin.
The cost was what you'd expect with the price of beef right now as my ribeye was $25.00. Overall price pre-tip was a little over $60, but our meat alone just didn't hit the mark for the cost. In all honesty, I have cooked a better tasting, better looking ribeye in the airfryer and that itself is a sin, lol.
Overall our experience wasn't bad, so don't allow my review to sway you to where you don't want to give them a try. Even a 5 star fancy restaurant can have a couple of negative reviews. I would like to give the 101 another taste in the future and you should try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have never written a review before. However, after my experience at Restaurant 101, I feel I must share. I placed an order over the phone for 2 crab cakes with a side of sweet potato fries. I was told that it should be ready in about 15 minutes. I arrived and was told it was not ready. They appeared to be busy, so I waited on the bench. After about 5 minutes, I looked on my phone and saw I had actually placed the order 18 minutes before. I waited for about another 10 minutes and then went up to the hostess and asked her if she could check on my order because I had already been waiting quite a while. She said "that's not my fault". I said "I never said it was. I just asked if you could check on my food." A lady that came in after me noticed a to go bag and checked it. She asked me if I ordered crab cakes. So needless to say, there was a bag with my food in it it sitting out for an undetermined length of time because not one of the many people walking around bothered to check it. Overall, very poor service. The food was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHomemade meatballs were excellent...the tomato sauce was almost perfect... not overloaded with herbs, but a tad sweet for my taste. I'd definitely get them again, though.
I asked if the pasta noodles were made to order and was told they're pre-cooked and are heated in boiling water per order. I prefer al dente so I didn't try the chicken parm. My friend did though and she said it was great.
Excellent excellent service. Nice full bar.
My son got a chicken sandwich, which was huge, and he loved it.
The bang bang(?) shrimp appetizer was really good. The potato skins are good... ā·not greasy.
I was a bit disappointed in the shrimp and grits... they literally tasted like shrimp... and grits... with crumbled bacon and some cheese on top. No zing, no gravy or sauce... no tasso ham or good sausage. But if you like simple tastes, you'd like it. I liked it enough. Prob a matter of preference.
The best part was the peanut butter pie...omg. so light and fluffy... like a souffle...
