Caffettino — Restaurant in Modesto

Extremely questionable hygiene, I have never written a review of a business in my life but I felt compelled to for this one. I’ve witnessed two incidents at this establishment that have stopped me in my tracks and made me feel like I was in an episode of The Twilight Zone.

The first was about 3 years ago. The customer in front of me complained about their drink. The barista then asked for the drink back and tasted the same exact cup that the customer just drank off of. I thought it gross, but figured maybe at best,the customer and barista could have been family (still would be very unprofessional)

A couple weeks ago I revisited for the first time since the initial incident 3 years ago. I ordered a drink and a different barista was snacking on food behind the counter. As they were turning to grab my cup, the barista LICKED THEIR FINGERS and then grabbed my cup and made my drink. This was in front of one of the owners. In a state of shock, I took the drink, blacked out, and when I came to, I was standing in the parking lot trying to figure out what just happened.

I really do hope the best for this business, and I’ve enjoyed purchasing their whole beans to enjoy at home. I understand the hipster coffee shop vibe is the goal, but for the love of all that is good and decent please follow some basic...

These guys are at the absolute speartip, bleeding edge of 3rd wave specialty coffee, and it REALLY shows. I brew specialty filter coffee at home, so I know what truly good coffee can taste like. I went here to try my first bare espresso double, and it was absolutely killer coffee. They even offered me a free cup of their filter coffee alongside it to compare and THAT was equally phenomenal. They know what they're doing. Coffee is roasted fresh every couple days and their espresso blend was perfect. I didn't try one of their milk drinks so I can't speak to that specifically but I'd have to guess that everything they serve is the best you can get. Get to Caffettino today! They roast, brew and press the best coffee in Modesto - and they are delightful people to boot! Seriously, no pretentious coffee house attitudes here - just friendly people serving delicious coffee drinks. They roast their beans in small batches on site. They have a fun coffee menu with their own unique blends. I've tried single shots, specialty drinks, drip coffee, and iced coffee.
