Jalapeno's Taqueria — Restaurant in Modesto

I've had the burritos twice. Once with carnitas (not greasy & fatty, well seasoned=tasty) & once with shredded chicken (not dried out, well seasoned), both were delicious. The "regular" burrito is BIG & I was full all day afterwards (I barely finished it). My boyfriend & I shared the Huge burrito for lunch & we were stuffed ALL day. The rice, the beans, meat, salsa & guacamole are tasty. The burritos are stuffed with everything not just beans & rice like some places. The salsa bar has a variety of tasty salsas- mild to hot. My children are picky eaters, not big on rice/beans; they had the children's plates: red sauce asada enchilada, rice/beans & the shredded chicken soft taco, rice/beans. The plates were very good proportion size for kid's plates (filled with meat, tasted the asada from my kid's enchilada plate again the meat was tasty and not dried out or fat filled) & they "cleaned" their plates, rice & beans too! They have a soda machine with a variety of flavor combos to choose from. I'm an hr drive away but I intend to go back & try the other dishes. If you're wanting Mexican food, I'd definately recommend trying this place. It's clean, including the bathroom. The staff is friendly. The wait time is short/appropriate & the place seems to have a lot of guests- in dining & takeout; I've even seen door dash come in for pick...

Tried this place awhile ago so decided to go again. Get there in the pouring rain, get my baby out and BOOM they aren't even open even though I came at 1030 and I think they are SUPPOSED to open at 10. Get back in the car, pack my daughter up and then all of a sudden people start moving around inside and open the store. We go in and order a chorizo breakfast burrito and pay for it, wait for it then an employee comes over (I'm thinking he's going to bring our food because it's been some time) and he tells us that they don't have chorizo. Really? The MOST commonly ordered part of a Mexican breakfast? Ok so then he's asking us do we want chicken or something else. Didn't the cashier KNOW you guy's ran out? How do you run out when you JUST opened? So we tell him fine chicken will do I guess. We waited...and waited and then FINALLY he comes back and STILL doesn't have our food, he asks if we wanted grilled chicken burrito or just grilled chicken...😣 We tell him burrito and it was GROSS. Breakfast burrito does NOT go...

I ordered the ‘huge burrito’ that has red sauce on top and I asked for extra salsa and cilantro in my burrito and she said it would be 0.75 extra on top of the over $12 I would be paying for the burrito so I decided no it’s fine I’ll just go with the way it normally is. When I got my food order to go the sauce was not on the burrito. And there was no cheese provided to go on top. So I went back in to ask for it and was told since I got a to go order I don’t get cheese only if I eat inside of the restaurant. I was like um no one says that and I’m not getting a no cheese discount so I asked may I please get it on the side. So then another girl interjects and says I only get it on top in the restaurant but to go it’s only in the actual burrito. But their menu says it automatically comes inside of my $12 burrito. So I leave and when I get home guess what no cheese in my burrito and barely and salsa.

Bad service, stingy on ingredients, and food was ok the red sauce wasn’t what I’m use to more of...
