The food is amazing. Honestly, it’s my favourite Mexican place by a mile. Every time I’m in downtown Modesto, more than half the time I find myself here. The staff is friendly, the vibes are impeccable, so why the low rating?
I’ve worked in food service long enough to know that there are NUMEROUS health code violations here. The last two visits, I’ve had pieces of hair in my food, and a fly in my quesadilla literally the next day. On top of that, the “up next” wooden board which sits directly on top of the grill and the dough in which they make the tortillas from, that sign is FULL of dust, which could easily fall into the tortilla mix and into YOUR food, or into the rotating grill itself.
My recommendation? As for the restaurant, please wear hair ties/nets, more than half of your staff does not wear it or even take precautions to prevent hair from falling into food.
Please dust your sign, and anything else that’s in proximity of the food prep.
As for the customers? This place is still really good. But I’d be cautious when it comes to your food. Inspect it, and point out anything wrong with it to management.
As for me, as much I don’t know how to, I’m going to find a way to file a complaint with the local authority. This place needs an...
Read moreThe staff has so much attitude, as soon as I walked in it felt like I was inconveniencing them by being there. When I asked a question about what a dish had, the woman making the tortillas answered me in a bad mood like I was dumb for asking that. I go to checkout and I ask if the order comes with tortilla chips and the cashier says yes with a small bag. Okay. So I pay and I haven’t gotten my chips yet so I’m waiting there and she walks away, and she starts talking to a co-worker. She sees me and says “do you need something” in such a condescending tone. I say “I haven’t gotten my chips” and she doesn’t say sorry or anything just grabs the chips and puts them on the counter and walks away.
In conclusion, be ready for attitude and horrible customer service. This isn’t the first time this has happened so it’s not an isolated incident and seeing the plethora of other reviews complaining about attitude should make you consider otherwise about coming here. The food was honestly ruined by the attitude I didn’t even want to eat, the vibe was ruined already. If the owner is seeing this, please please consider a customer service training for your staff. The level of service was so bad, it...
Read moreThe place is nice. I like the armosphere. The staff is a different story. I've gone here two times, the first time was just prior to closing. The staff seemed a little grumpy but I just believed it was because they wanted to be out on time, which isn't unreasonable. I went back today and the service was really slow.
The cashier kept hanging out by the bar and had to be called back for every customer even though there was a line. My wife went to the restroom and the cashier took so long that my wife returned and waited with me.
The person making the "home made tortilla" called the cashier that was hanging out by the bar, but couldn't get her attention so he began ringing me up.
Finally the cashier came over and took my card. I ordered two drinks and she gave me one. I asked for the second cup and she gave me an annoyed look and shoved it at me. By the time I got to my table , my food was cold.
I didn't want to make a scene because I had spoken highly of this place to my family and they enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, I had to deal with the staff. It will be a while, IF I ever return.
My family did comment on how slow and...
