My family and I had a wonderful experience at Modesto on Ice. The ice rink is large, covered from the rain/elements, and in a great location in Downtown Modesto. The staff were friendly, polite, and accommodating. Getting tickets, signing the waiver online, and getting skates were simple and easy. I really appreciated how helpful the staff was in selecting skates and preparing my children for their first ice skating experience. The owner even helped tie my children's skates and ensured they had the right size walker. The ice was resurfaced before our session, and we really enjoyed all of the facilities. The ice rink had lights below it and above it. The music that played was fun to skate to. The bathrooms were clean and easy to access, even with skates on. The design, aesthetics, and decorations were festive and fun. Everyone was so friendly and polite, and the staff member that monitored the ice was so helpful to all skaters that needed assistance. Even fellow skaters helped us and other skaters up if they slipped or took a fall. Everyone seemed to really be enjoying it, especially the employees working there. One of my favorite parts of the experience was the snack bar and the hot chocolate. It was such a treat to have warm hot chocolate with whipped cream, peppermint topping, and a candy can on the side. It was the best we've ever had. We also had some popcorn that was tastier than what you can get from a movie theater and nachos that were better than what you can get from a baseball game. Putting in my review before they open. I commute from San Jose just to visit Modesto on Ice. I lived in Modesto for a while, but it’s worth the drive just to be able to ice skate in my old stomping grounds. I really enjoy the vibe and the outdoor environment, I’m used to skating at indoor rinks. They do a good job resurfacing the ice. I don’t have any kids but I do find the atmosphere to be very kid friendly. For all beginners, I recommend sizing down on your skates; do not wear your shoe size. I am size 10 in shoes but size 7 in ice skates. Overall the staff is friendly, I like that they provide free lockers to store my shoes. Great place for the family and for people of all ages. Great place to learn how to ice skate for the first time. I’ve never tried the food but the snacks look good, I will definitely be trying them this year. The ice quality is better later at night, I’ve gone during the day and have noticed the ice get a bit puddly especially areas that are a bit more exposed to the sun. I’ve never had an issue with parking even on busy nights. Be sure to arrive with enough time to pick out your skates, try on several if you have to, they should feel like an extension of your feet. The skate quality was the worst I’ve experienced, one of the gentlemen that I tried to get to help was kinda rude… I put my skates on and them being hockey skates really have no ankle support but I tried wrapping them around and tying them around my ankle higher up… skated around a couple times and decided to ask if they had regular figure skates so it would support my ankle… he told me no they didn’t have them in my size that if my ankles are weak then there’s nothing that the skates he had would help… mind you I quad skate on a regular and have been ice skating to many times to count and have never had a problem… I then asked if I could try a smaller size and maybe that would help… they ended up being to small and I spoke with one of the gals up front and told her about the issues I was having, she went over to the skate rental area and grabbed a pair of figure skates and had me try on a couple till they fit… they where still a bit tight but I was able to go around much better, only a couple more times since they still didn’t fit right but had the right support, ultimately I was only able to skate around 6 or 7 times which was super disappointing with the amount of money spent… On the plus side my daughter had a...
