Sandy's Donuts & Icecream — Restaurant in Modesto

I've been going to Sandy's for years. Today is my last time there unfortunately. After ordering a green tea with boba, we got a green tea "smoothie" that was made from powder. After specifically asking for "green iced tea". The taste was terrible and it was just like drinking powder. (Which I've gotten a white mocha before and it was also powdered. Not good at all.) I asked if my daughter could have it remade, the woman acted like she didn't know what I was saying which was such a sad turn of events because minutes before she was super friendly. She argued with me and said "it's not her problem if it doesn't taste good" and said she would "remake it this time free of charge" and the prices I will say aren't the same as the ones on their signs. So I know it's all about the money. I even told her to just keep the money but I won't be back. If someone says the "quality" of your serving isn't good, you listen and make it right. She went to the sink and poured half of it out and then proceeded to tell me it "wasn't her problem" and then I said "you're just going to rinse it"? She was saving the boba at the bottom and rinsing it all with what she had in the sink. I couldn't allow my daughter in good health to drink that or anything from that kitchen. I will always shop small but not when we aren't shown the common decency and respect of being a paying customer. I also paid with cash, a refund, she said she couldn't do either. After being dumbfounded on how handle this situation she kept trying to offer me donuts to which she rang up and told me I owed "60 cents" but said it's okay and waved her hand. It's sad that this couldn't have been handled properly from the beginning instead of the rude comments and poor behavior which I told her this is was why my daughter was afraid to speak up. I would spend an entire paycheck here if I could. Going in we were immediately greeted, choosing the donuts was the same as any other donut place, yummy donuts by the way go buy a lot. Also yummy coffee go buy a lot of that as well it was so good! It's what happened after that my family and I have never experienced. Everyone was super nice to the point where they were actively trying to communicate with my deaf sister the best that they could, writing down flavors, pointing at pictures for a visual, and signing thank you. The customer service was EXTRAORDINARY, if I could I would be there, every. single. day.

My family has been getting donuts from Sandy's for around 20 years. I remember as a little boy looking forward to my dad bringing home the pink box of delicious donuts almost every weekend. I grew up with these donuts and even though I've moved around to Utah and San Jose I've never been able to find a donut shop that compares, not even Krispy Kreme. I still look forward to picking up some donuts from this family-owned shop every time I come back to visit my family in Modesto. Best donuts...
