Korean food is one of my favorite food. I’ve traveled many places throughout our military career and tasted many Korean food from different states and different countries. But, this place was a disappointment and by far the worst Korean restaurant I’ve ever been to. I’ve been craving Korean food since I left Fort Hood, Texas. I googled Korean restaurants around the area and landed me to this place. The place doesn’t look too bad, the waitress was really nice, the menu had Korean and Chinese food, but the food was just horrible. We first ordered Thai tea and they served us with some loaded-weird sugary tea, but not Thai tea. That was the first strike. I only saw bbq bulgogi on the menu so I asked the waitress if they serve regular bulgogi besides bbq, and she didn’t know what bulgogi was. It’s understandable being that she is not Korean. We ordered dim sum for appetizer, the meat smells somewhat old and it had tiny little bugs, so scratch that off the list. We didn’t see anything we both like from the Korean menu, so we ordered from the Chinese side. I ordered general tsos chicken and my husband ordered sweet and sour chicken. General tsos chicken looks and tasted like sweet and sour, and his sweet and sour chicken looks like fried strips of chicken with duck sauce on the side. It was our first and will be our last visit there. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I don’t know if the people giving 3-5 stars have ever had REAL Korean/Chinese food before, but I find the comments on here to be false advertisements. I am part Korean and Chinese by the way, so I grew up eating Asian food and this right here will be considered a disgrace to our...
Read moreSince moving back to the Quad Cities, I've struggled to find Asian takeout that I really like. There are a few places on the Iowa side of the Mississippi that I like, but still haven't found many places I really enjoy in the area. I think I can add Noodle House to the list of places I really like in the area.
The place is neat and unassuming. The floor is a dark wood laminate, the ceiling is a two by four drop ceiling with space out ceiling fans. There are florescent lights, though with the abundant windows they weren't on in the late afternoon when I was dining in. The light curtains further added to the general dark, warm ambiance to the dining room.
I wasn't super adventurous today, so I only ended up getting an order of Mongolian Beef and Crab Rangoons. I didn't realize this was going to happen, but the server also brought out an assortment of kimchi, flavored apple bits, fried wonton wrappers strips, and spiced ground chicken. I enjoyed the kimchi and wonton wrappers, but also wasn't brave enough to try the small portions of the other two. Maybe next time...
The Rangoons weer pretty standard fare for Asian restaurants. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, no complaints. The Mongolian Beef though - I think this is my new favorite Mongolian Beef for the area and probably overall too! It's a little crispy, full of flavor, yet still has a soft chew overall. I'd come back for this multiple times a week if it were closer to home!
Bottom line - I really like this place. The Mongolian Beef is on point and I need to try other noodle dishes on offer. Thanks,...
Read moreI tried the Pad Thai and a bowl of their Tom Yum, and my husband ordered the Jajangmyeon and a bowl of the Shrimp Congee. We also ordered the crab rangoons. The Tom Yum was ok (I prefer Lemongrass Cafe or Exotic Thai or even my own recipe better). It was just kind of plain, as was the Shrimp Congee. Not spicy at all, which might be preferable for some. The crab rangoons were surprising, since they had horseradish in them. I have never had crab rangoons which had such an odd flavor. It wasn't bad, it was just odd.
My Pad Thai was ok, again very plain, and not spicy at all. There was a ton of chicken in it, so they certainly do not skimp on the main ingredients. My husband ordered the Jajangmyeon, but the waitress was new and did not write down his order correctly, so he received the JjamPpong instead. He didn't say anything because he could tell she was new. The bowl of soup and noodles was gigantic, and it was loaded with seafood. Again, they do not skimp at all on the main course. He is not a particularly avid fan of seafood, so he was rather disappointed. But, he ate quite a bit of it before giving up. I tasted the broth, and I thought it was quite good.
If you like plain, and no spice, then I am sure you will love it. I prefer very spicy, so I think Lemongrass Cafe/Exotic Thai has offerings a little more to my taste buds. The service was good, other than the mixup on my husband's order. But, we were not upset about it....
