Hazel’s on Main — Restaurant in Monmouth

It truly was busy! There was one server/bartender providing service for at least eight tables. One was an eight top. It was unfortunate that during the holiday season, they had not planned ahead. Still that one server was very quick at getting our drinks. Two lovely Lemon Drops. We put in an order for the fondue with a baguette, and pretzel bites. We added the fruit and vegetables. I looked around, and every table but one had been served their food. After 50 minutes I asked the manager about our order? He looked confused, came by and didn't say a thing. He did return a few minutes later to tell us it would be another few minutes. When it came out the cheese was very appetizing, but I noticed there were no pretzel bites on the plate? It was 70% brussel sprouts, and 30% broccoli. With a handful on apples. I asked the manger about this? He said we were busy. So you got more bread. I had wished I might have been told a substitute item would be used. When I expressed this Nick informed me he would comp me the next time I came back. After watching the server walk out on the floor while still chewing her food. Only to be grabbed by a person wanting their check. Recently, my partner and I visited a new restaurant in Monmouth, hoping to enjoy a pleasant dining experience. However, we were disappointed with the service we received. Upon entering, we were frantically greeted and told to sit between the kitchen and the bar. After taking our seats, menus were immediately tossed at us. Although a lady took our drink order, we were neglected for over 40 minutes as the two employees walked past us repeatedly. Even though our menus were stacked neatly to indicate our readiness to order, we had to flag the lady down to place our food order. She did not even apologize for forgetting us. The food arrived after 20 minutes, but no one came to check on us. We could pay promptly, thanks to the lady who ran our card and picked up on our hint that we wanted to leave. A nearby table also requested their check when they saw us cash out. We advise that if you do not have ample time or are not ready for a leisurely dining experience, do not visit this establishment. Additionally, we were disappointed that the restaurant did not offer wine despite there being bottles displayed and that the lady was unaware of what condiments her establishment...

Ok, so I’m really not that picky about my dining experiences…with 2 exceptions. One if the food is bad, and two if I have to wait a long time for mediocre food. Well, we visited this place and we were one of only 2 customers in the restaurant. While we were waited on promptly and the drinks provided in a timely manner, our food took over an hour to show up. And if the food was really good, I’m down all day long…but it was basic at best. I ordered a cheeseburger for $20, and I’ve had better burgers at Carl’s. It was dry as a bone even though it was supposed to have a garlic silt spread. And the fries were all about a half inch long, as if I got the bottom scraps out of the bag.
