My review of the graduate program RCRCD,/( masters in counseling) . First the good news. The former program coordinator has retired! The bad news is the new head of the department is just as bad if not worse. .She was the professor who encouraged me to drop out, and save money while I was gainfully in the program.. it should cause you huge red flags to see former students on the website to say that they "never had any issues. Problems with the staff". I'm guessing those two students were in fear like many of us for speaking up or helping out in a foreign country. If your looking for a high school. Middle school experience this is the program for you... if you have a physical problem, personal problem you will quickly be highlighted, and thrown out of the program.. in a very small program I saw this happen three times, thus the Fear Factor. If you are a student with a disability and you even were encouraged to apply to the program based on your disability the program. Will use it against you, in fact they will demand proof of said disability. . Beware of the RSA grant! It's a scam. You hear more about your paying back the grant than you are taught counseling techniques. Beware if you happen to be wrongfully forced to exit the program certain staff doubles as Bill Colectors.. questionable ethics? Major ADA violations. This program does not want people who think outside of the box. But rather fit comfortably in a box... my advice is to look into PSU, Lewis and Clark, or even an online program.. I've never been to a graduate, masters psych degree such as this one where harassment, intimidation...
Read moreThe dining hall is Awful even though they try their best so many people get food poisoning and the menu is lacking in variety and edible vegetables Almost everything looks as though it came out of a can. The housing is Terrible people being plagued with breaking heaters and mold And leaky windows The walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbors talking at a normal tone and decipher every word. There is absolutely no parties that are worth your time and if you want to have any nightlife your best bet is to go to OSU which is a $50 Uber ride each way. The community at the school is not nice amongst students Most people won't even smile back at you in passing. However I will say there is a lot of resources and a lot of kind people on the staff. Graduation is lower than the transfer rate and I feel like that speaks for itself after the first month of classes it seems as though 1/4 of the people in the freshman building moved out because the school is just not a great one unless you're specifically looking for a program that they offer I would go somewhere else...
Read moreThe Dorms have no AC so the Spring and Summer Terms are literally Hell on earth. I am a 3rd year CS Student and I often find classes being taught by professors who have little to no experience with the subject matter leading to a sub-par experience. Also, the department decided to change up the curriculum, removing all of the 'old' classes, and the administration made it the students' problem to figure out how to manage the old catalog without being able to change to the new one. If you want to feel used and abused by the inefficient system at a small university, this is the place for you. The only upswing is that most of the professors here are amazing people, even if some of their classes end up being complete B.S.. Overall, if I could afford to transfer to a different school I would, but I am stuck here due to finances and incompatible degree programs.
Edit: the few professors and staff who actually care about students here do so much more than you would expect to make your education...
