Let me just start by saying I have NEVER written a review before. This was my first time eating at Monroe’s. It was highly recommended by several friends, so my husband and I decided to take three friends there for a nice dinner. I called ahead and made a reservation. We arrived and were seated in the main dining area. The atmosphere was extremely noisy with just half of the dining room full. The tables were so close together you had to turn sideways to walk by empty tables. The waitress came and took our drink orders. We ordered our appetizers. We ordered 5 different appetizers and placed our order for the main meal. We all ordered steaks (Two of us ordered 16 oz Ribeyes cooked medium rare, and the other three of our party ordered 6 oz. filets cooked medium rare). The waitress came out to tell us they were out of 6oz and 10oz filets. The three people who ordered those changed their order to 16 oz Ribeyes. The waitress then came out and told us they were out of 16 oz Ribeyes. She verified that they had 20oz Ribeyes and this is what we ordered. The table beside us had the same problem with those that had ordered steaks. We got our appetizers at different times throughout our meal with one coming out after we had already started eating our steaks. Our steaks were well done (one looked charred on the outside) and the steak cut was 3/4 inch thick (which you have a hard time with medium rare on that thin of a cut). All three friends ordered side dishes that never came out. I completely see this as a mismanagement of kitchen staff and poor management of stocking the restaurant. The food itself was flavored well. We were disappointed in the timing of the food, the poor stocking of food, and poor cook on the steak. We spent $500 (including the tip for the waitress) at this restaurant. Do not waste your...
Read moreMy friend wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday. I wanted to try Monroe’s as I’d never been. The food wasn’t great, but I would’ve considered coming back for the ambiance.
My friend paid for hers, mine and her husband’s to go dinner on her ticket. I paid for my drink and the tip for the table on my ticket. Everything was nice until we got ready to leave.
We were approached outside of the restaurant by a waitress (not even our waitress) inquiring about the reason we didn’t “leave a tip”; she said we’d written a tip and scratched it out on our ticket, completely untrue. I went back into the restaurant, requested our tickets and explained that the tip was left on my ticket to the manager. As the manager and I were talking, the waitress was interrupting, still trying to plead her case! The manager advised she didn’t know we were followed and that it would be addressed with the waitress.
I’ve never experienced such level of unprofessionalism in my life. Needless to say, I will NEVER patronize this restaurant again. Birthday...
Read moreWe had a very unpleasant experience here, kind of an “unwelcoming” feeling. We did have reservations, but we had a few family members from out of town join. We agreed to move to the back room after being asked to do so. Then while we were ordering one of the guest changed her order. The manager said they ASSUME the customer to know u can’t change ur order once they put it in, instead of her stating their policy. Then while the food was coming out, the manager announced we was being charged a 200 dollar fee for using a room that we didn’t ask for. After we said we would pay but take our food to go, they said make sure u don’t forget anything because we wouldn’t be able to return if we forgot anything. This was the worst restaurant experience ever. Again it was very “ unwelcoming”...
