Cislo's was a great family restaurant. Due to my size and mobility issues we requested a table not a booth and were seated right by the front door. I only mention this because my friend felt like she was on display as every person that came in the restaurant looked at her. We also found it very loud at this table, because everybody coming and going was speaking with the hostess at the counter. Other than that everything else was great. The food was very good. I ended up having a French dip and my friend had a patty melt. We both took half of our food to go as it was too much to eat in one sitting and then opted for some dessert...also to go. My friend had a piece of pumpkin cheesecake and I opted for the carrot cake. The pumpkin cheesecake was to die for. The carrot cake was not as good as the carrot cake I am used to. The carrot cake is the only reason I am giving the food a 4 instead of a 5. If I could have given it a 4.5, I surely would have. Our waitress was a young lady named Brandi? She was awesome. One of those waitresses where you can tell her your order while engaging in conversation and she walks away and remembers everything you ordered perfectly. After she waited on us, there was three gentlemen that came in and sat at the table next to us. All three gentlemen ordered food engaged Brandi in conversation and asked her specifics about certain things on the menu. Brandi didn't write anything down, walked away and came back with their order perfect... great service. Waitresses like Brandi are few and far between. Brandi is certainly a credit to her profession and we tipped her accordingly. Cislo's is a great restaurant if you are ever in the area. I am envious of the locals as I would visit this restaurant on a regular basis if I lived within 50 mi. It is kind of a shame, because there are not enough restaurants like Cislo's around anymore... Good old-fashioned family restaurants. If you found my review helpful, please give me a thumbs up and feel free to check out some of my...
Read moreFull time travelers here, so looked at Yelp for places to eat. I personally wasn’t happy with the photos, as the food looked really basic, generic greasy spoon type of food. My girlfriend wanted to try them and I’m glad she did.
Moderate dinner crowd but seating immediately available. We were greeted and seated within minutes. Ice water and carafe of ice water were put on table as we sat down.
Our server was Jennifer. I asked her if I could taste the gravy they have and was given the option of country, brown or jalapeño bacon gravy. I asked for both the country and jalapeño bacon. The country was perfectly fine. It’s not sausage based but still decent. The jalapeño bacon gravy was amazing. we both ordered the chicken fried steak with it.
It came with choice of fries and soup or salad as well a delicious small loaf of bread (wheat?) freshly baked and served warm. She got the salad and I got the soup which was ham and bean.
The salad looked fresh and full of your typical side salad ingredients. The ham and bean was amazing. Fresh made and full of beans ham and veggies.
Our chicken fried steaks arrived and while it was not the most attractive presentation/looking good, one bite had both of us hooked. The fries were crispy and tasted great.
We decided to order some pie to go and have since laid them to rest. I’m not a big huckleberry pie person, but I did taste it and ask my girlfriend about her thoughts on it. Nice crust, tart fruit, (these ones had been frozen.) she really liked it. I had the coconut cream pie. Perfectly made light crust filled with coconut filling and cream with nicely toasted coconut flakes on top. Fantastic.
I read quite a few reviews and a few had issues with the staff there. We interacted with 4 different employees and all of them were good to great. Jennifer made sure all her tables had everything we/they needed.

Read moreWow. The food at Cislo's is incredible, and it's just not that important on the scale of reasons why you should come here. No, the large portions don't really matter either, and the ridiculously low prices barely factor in. The fact it's the only local restaurant surrendered by fast food chains as far as the eye can see, well, that does count for something, but... No, the reason you come here is the atmosphere. Every person wants to be there, from the hostess, Isabella, who greeted us so quickly and warmly, it made me dizzy, to Jennie, the constant smiler, who took our order and brought it out with such haste that we didn't have to time plan the next part of our drive. To the other waitresses we didn't meet, to the bus boy that was DANCING while doing his job, to the cook, who came out with a big grin on to greet familiar faces and make sure everything is done just right, and finally to the other patrons all around you. Everyone is happy, engaged with each other, talking and laughing, and not a cell phone in sight. That's why you come here. Also, the prime rib is perfect, and the jalapeno gravy is worth it's weight in gold. Lastly, as a tall person (6'7") I would like to report I didn't hit my head or knees on anything, which is always...
