KT's Hayloft Saloon — Restaurant in Montana

Unfortunately there's a character limit so I am unable to completely describe every horrible thing that happened here.

This used to be my favorite restaurant in the Missoula area. I had been talking it up for quite a while to my GF and we finally set a date to take the family out for dinner here. What followed was by far the most horrid dinning experience of my life.

The place was slow at the end of the night when we arrived. 3 Adults and 2 children. The place was dirty, we had to actually clean our table ourselves. We were here over an hour in total before our food started coming out. Our drinks were forgotten and I'd had to go to the server bar and refill them myself. The waitress was friendly at first and after repeatedly asking for the same water for my children over 30 min in all she became very rude. When our appetizer order came out incorrect, and the one appetizer I actually DID order was black and inedible she interrogated me on what my problem with the food was. I asked for a check to leave in disgust and she disappeared for another 20 minutes in the back. When she DID finally come out it wasn't with my check, it was with the food we'd ordered 45 minutes earlier. I sent the food back and repeated my request for the check. When it arrived, I told her I was unwilling to pay for the food we received after asking for the check. I was unwilling to pay for the poppers I couldn't eat, but I'd pay for the kids meals we got 20 min earlier and the cheese sticks (that I didn't even order). She flipped. In front of all the other tables she yelled at us, threatened us and I have never been more embarrassed in my life! I demanded management and got the phone number for the owner and the kitchen manager told us we were free to leave.

Worse part, by the time we finally got out of the place, every other restaurant in town was closed. Our night out turned into an hour and a half of hell and ended with a trip through the taco bell drive through.

Should have been the end right? Nope. I called the owner the next day to complain and he seemed very sincere. He offered to comp us a meal to give them another chance. I was grateful. This restaurant had been my favorite for years before I moved out of Lolo and I was very upset at what had happened. I told my gf that we were gonna go back, that the owner wanted to make it up to us and to just give it another try. I finally convinced her to have an open mind and to agree to give them another chance. The owner said he would mail us a certificate.

After a few weeks the certificate never came. I called him again and he said he would take care of it. Weeks again has gone by and nothing. My girlfriend has declared that she's absolutely unwilling to step foot in that place and that is that. I would give negative stars if I could. I’ve been to this place a number of times because of a dart league. I will NEVER be back. I have not had good service at this watering hole, not once, tonight was the last straw. Their waitress/ bartender Courtney didn’t even acknowledge us for an hour, she quickly made her way past our table and I had to catch her to place an order. One of the other guys at our table also ordered food, she brought him silverware but nothing for me. I asked her to bring me silverware for my salad and she copped more of an attitude. When she returned I asked her if I had done something to deserve such an attitude. The way this waitress/bartender acted was completely unacceptable as she continued to cop an attitude and acted like cartman on South Park “ don’t tell me how to live my life” and their owner, Frank, should be embarrassed about the way their service is. A few weeks ago at this bar we had an overserved gentleman, who was a patron, approach us several times looking for drugs. We complained to the bartender and she reassured us he was a “nice guy” but he grew more aggressive as the short interactions continued to happen. The bartender FINALLY tossed him. I have worked in the service industry before and even owned my own business in Arizona serving people. I know how to tip appropriately however the girls here don’t do anything that warrants a tip. Maggie is AMAZING. We come in often and sit on the dining side. Again, she is great. However, the girl working the “fryer” and the “front desk” girl were far from. I called in 30 minutes before hand to place an order to go, they were quick to take our order telling us that “it should be pretty quick, we’re pretty slow”. So I get there, hasn’t been put in the system. So we have to wait another 20 minutes, leave, come back, and then this time biscuits and ranch were missing. Had to go back in for the THIRD time just to be informed that even though the woman on the phone told me biscuits were included, they weren’t. I had asked about the biscuits multiple times as well, implying that we obviously wanted them and they still couldn’t put two and two together and manage to put biscuits in our order.. We gave up, I wasn’t about to beg for them. Upon asking for the side ranch that she had earlier agreed to include, with an attitude, dumps a tremendous amount of ranch into a soup bowl and literally smashed the lid down on it until it was dumping out the sides then gave it to me to take. I was flabbergasted. Needless to say the lack of professionalism was enough to make us never want to come back. Will not be calling in...
