Z’s — Restaurant in Montebello

At first, I didn't go here because of the name and distance from me, but I finally committed and I was surprised how GREAT their food was!!! This place is a hidden gem; I'm surprised there aren't more reviews. This restaurant has a surprisingly diverse menu: Latino, American, and Mediterranean.

Delicious food!!!! Nice staff (minus the short gordita Latina girl asking inappropriate questions, who's always on her phone). Average prices. Decor is nice and has a retro feel. Nice location. Clean place. Panoramic view of the intersection. Lots of tables. High tables available. Good seating comfort. Outdoor seating available. This place is almost like a casual restaurant. Not too busy, easy to find a seat. Easy to find parking. They have the good soda fountain :)

Food: The burgers are big, delicious, and juicy, but I wish the lettuce was less drippy with sauce. The burger could use some pepper.

The crispy chicken sandwiches are perfectly crisp and cooked just right to be juicy; they're seriously good and you should try them; BOGO free at the time of writing.

The Mediterranean food is DELICIOUS!!! Kabob plates are amazing!!! Lightly sour dill salad perfectly balances the savory kabob meal. The garlic spread is so good!

The burritos are skinny and disappointed me.

The burger melt sandwich is delicious!!! The grilled butter toast is amazing!!! Crispy with a rich buttery flavor compliments the juicy burger!!!

I thought the chilaquilles would come with a box full of it; I'd say I didn't get a good value out of it but you may prefer the 2 side items instead of more chilaquilles.

The tenders + fries were tasty, they didn't line the container with foil and the foam was partially melted from the hot fries.

Cons: Some of the food items, I feel, aren't worth the price for what you get. The burritos tend to be underwhelming. A major con is that I have to constantly be on the lookout for physical contaminants in my food.

In the recent months I've been eating here, I spotted 2 physical contaminants in my food: one was what looked like fake fur, the other was some kind of really brittle metallic curl. I can imagine the fake fur was from morning shift prepping food and wearing some kind of jacket. I don't own an animal with this fur color. I have no clue where or what the shiny metallic curl is from. When I poked it, it disintegrated, maybe it's from the stove but I don't know why it's so brittle. I can't imagine someone wearing a shiny silver dress to work in a kitchen lol. I thought maybe a metallic sponge but the curly was too fine and brittle.

Overall: This place has great food. I will be coming back but I will continue to inspect what I eat. I could easily give this place a 5 star if I didn't feel the need to compulsively inspect my food :P

To start of me, my 2 sisters and parents came here as a quick eat after her game. We got 5 meals and the total was $83.89. My sister(10) got #17 which was a Denver omelette with potatoes and sourdough bread. She loved the food and ate more than she usually does. The omelette was very cheesy and already loved sourdough bread. My dad up next! He got #131 which was a Vegan Pita wrap with a combo house salad. He gave it a 3.5 out of 5 (literally what) because they had no appetizers ☹️ I don’t agree with him put he actually loved his food( this man was tearing it up saying we wish we had his food) anyways he didn’t like that he had to remind the employees to get his tea for him and that they gave him a plastic straw to stir his hot tea. But overall he loved the vibes and food(which is surprising because he’s very critical) After that my step mom got #215 which was a grilled salmon with cilantro habanero. She gave the place a 5 out of 5 🤩. She said the environment was welcoming and it’s very clean, the staff is nice and helpful, and the food perfect, exactly what she wanted.(she also tore up that food). My other sister gave this place a 4 of 5, she said the food is good tho. Last person is me and I’m disappointed that I didn’t get something else because I only got French toast, fruit and eggs. If I can give this place zero stars I would. I’m never coming to this place ever again due to rude and nasty employees. Yesterday I told my mom to go in person to order me a plate and the employee did not pay attention to the fact that we just wanted 1 plate not 2. We never said we wanted 2 plates the stupid employee assumed that just because my dad was with my mom but my mom always stated that we wanted only 1. She was charging my mom $30 and we were confused as to why if 1 plate cost about $15. As my mom told her that we never ordered 2 plates only one, the employee was rude to my mother and took both plates back to the kitchen which was suspicious and as my mom came home to give me my plate I noticed that there was less rice as usual. This is very disgusting because you can see the malice and pettiness in this employee’s behavior and it all makes sense. The reason why they took both plates back to the kitchen was to remove and give us less rice on the plate she gave my mother. I am never coming here again.The employees probably spit on...
