Meri Moon — Restaurant in Montevallo

This cute café on Main Street has dining indoors and outdoors. We went for lunch after visiting the University of Montevallo. The menu has a variety of Southern influenced fair.

The firecracker salad was amazing. The salad was topped with rich cheddar savory bacon rashers and crushed firecrackers it was a great bite. I paired it with their crescent sandwich, which is a peanut butter and banana sandwich. They added mayo to make it perfect for me. The sandwich came with a small bowl of boiled peanuts, which had an depth of flavor I did not expect.

My daughter had a firecracker and pimento cheese appetizer. It brought the heat and she paired it with a vanilla milkshake, which was perfect.

10/10, would visit...

Overall, I really liked this spot. They have a very clean and fitting atmosphere for the overarching theme of the restaurant. The food was tasty and the ingredients were fresh. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

The owner, who I didn't realize was sitting behind me at the time, kindly paused to ask if my coffee was okay after observing how I'd asked for a few things to make it taste better to me. She apologized for it not being right, which I personally appreciated.

We're very fortunate to have this gem in Montevallo!

I am not sure what happened, if it was technical problems or just being understaffed, but I just spent 30 minutes waiting for an 8 dollar cup of coffee. They got the coffee and food for the ladies, who ordered 10 minutes after I did, in about 5 minutes, but those ladies knew the owner. Even after they received their food and coffee, I waited another 5 minutes, was served the wrong coffee, and then waited another 5 minutes to received the correct order. This made me late for work.
