I had a wonderful first time experience today for lunch! Since I’m a truck driver and have to deliver at Sam’s Club in the morning, I looked for some place that was not the everyday food choice and an so glad I found Jan’s Beach House Grill! I was greeted by a delightful smell of Coconut/ beach smell and great food and was seated by a sweet lady and she said she hoped I hadn’t been waiting long. I went into the restroom first to wash my hands before I sat down, and told her that. That decorations and flamingos and beach themed obviously and very tasteful. I was told before I got here that they were closing soon, ( a car dealership made an offer the owners couldn’t refuse) so they would be busy. I came in around 1pm for lunch and indeed they were busy, which means the food is great!!! Right away I noticed the great prices!! I’m sure that’s one of the big draws here!!!! SUPER SERVER Josh greeted me and got my drink order back to me quickly and then I asked him what his favorites were. ( I almost always ask my servers that question) I ordered the grilled fish ( grouper ) fingers and Josh’s favorites green beans and green fried tomatoes!! Within just a few minutes, he returned with my meal exactly as ordered and let me tell you!!!! The grilled fish was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of lemon pepper and the green beans served in a monkey dish were awesome too but the 3 THICK FRIED GREEN TOMATOES were the BOMB!! The best I’ve ever had!! Seasoned and breaded perfectly again, and because they were thick, I could taste the green in the tomato, and the seasoning weren’t to thick that it over powered and it stayed On when I cut it half!!! Deliciousness all around! I wish I lived closer and glad I could make it here . Found out that they’re not closing until APRIL ‘25 because the demolition company is so busy right now!! Good for all the regular patrons of Jan’s in Montgomery!! I’m sure they’re going...
Read moreI've never been to Jan's Beach House Grill in the evening so I thought it would be the same lunch menu and atmosphere. When we entered the building, we were asked if we had reservations. I was getting ready to turn around and leave because we didn't but we were seated any way. As we neared our table, I noticed a band set up and asked if live music was being offered tonight. The hostess said there would be and that it would start about 6:30. She assured us that the area she put us in wouldn't be that loud so we sat down. I really don't care for restaurants that have live music because it keeps people from having conversations but that's my problem. The band started warming up about 6:15 which cut down our conversation. We left as soon as the music started.
I ordered the Fried Shrimp platter with French fries and corn nuggets. There were a dozen shrimp and they were lightly breaded and fried perfectly. The fries and corn nuggets were delicious. I tried one of my husband's onion rings which was delicious. They were real onions and had a light coating of batter and were perfectly fried. My husband thought he ordered a rib eye steak but ended up with a filet mignon instead. He loved the seasoning on the steak and it was perfectly cooked. He had the green beans, which were the Italian flat beans (not my favorite) and the aforementioned delicious onion rings. We had a wonderful server and she was very friendly and did a great job of taking care of us
When you enter the restaurant, a note was placed on the door informing customers that they were short of staff and wait times would be longer. I appreciated the note and planned on being patient. Masks are not required but some of the servers wore them. Reservations are taken but you may want to call ahead to see if you need to make them. The restaurant ended being pretty full by the...
Read moreWow!!! I have driven past this restaurant 100's of times and today is the first time I ate there. The best I can say is it was tremendously better than I expected. I had a hamburger and fries. I thought it was an excellent hamburger because let's face it, a hamburger does not have to be complicated. It is an eight ounce patty and a huge bun. The bun was as fresh as possible. It takes a lot for me to say it was a very good hamburger. My friend ordered the meat and three. She got fried pork chop, onion rings, mashed potatoes with brown gravy and a small salad. The plate came with two pork chops and I was impressed by that. I ate one pork chop and it was well seasoned and unbelievably moist. The onion rings were freshly fried, not greasy and perfectly crisp such that a bite comes clean. I was impressed with the onion rings. The amount of French fries was just right. Not more than you should eat. I will definitely be back to eat there again and again and again. Whenever I get that sneaky feeling in my stomach wanting a hamburger this is where I am going. I cannot recommend this restaurant any higher. It is comfort food at it's best. 15 March 2023. Unless you are on some wacky diet or your concerned about those things that " they " say are bad for us, I seriously doubt you will be disappointed enjoying lunch or dinner here. They have a decent selection of...
