The lady fixing the plates on Monday 10/16 was just flat out rude… not helpful in anyway as far as letting me know the price and etc… only telling me what it wasn’t…I asked about a certain item I heard they had…. And she said only on Monday’s and fridays… ok cool…so I just settled for what they had that day 😒…. I ordered neck bones and rice with collard greens and mashed potatoes…. I told her to add a chicken thigh and she said with an attitude “only Wednesdays and fridays”…. I said oh no ma’am I just asked for a chicken thigh to be added… then she was like “oh” 😒….. so now about the food…. This was my first time at this place… I decided to go based off the reviews and honestly idk what kind of soul food these people are used too… but this place was just not it…. Idc idc idc about history or hype or any of that with this place… the only thing that mattered to me was getting some good food… and they failed miserably… the neckbones were tender and falling off the bone… had a lot of meat on them too… but we’re barely seasoned 😒…. The rice… ewww… just ewwww… tasted like the 1 minute microwaveable rice that be in the little cups in the grocery store… and also lacked flavor… that was a major NO for me…. The greens… the greens the greens!!! Tasted like they just boiled them with a lil salt and vegetable oil…smh….. mashed potatoes were soupy and clearly fresh out of the BOX… there’s nothing wrong with boxed mashed potatoes..but why were they so watery? And again not seasoned…and the audacity of y’all to throw gravy over them 🙆♀️….the chicken thigh I ordered with it just didn’t even stand a chance… first bite and it was dry and tasted like left over chicken…. Quick question…. How in the world does fried chicken “taste like the pot”? anybody who knows what I mean knows what I mean… that taste that lingers on the food when a pot is half washed or half rinsed of soap…. Spit it clean out….CORN BREAD WAS PERFECT‼️‼️ BUSSIN BUSSIN… but anyways… I’m not even a difficult person and usually try not to leave terrible reviews but somebody needed to tell y’all this….Now maybe this place was jumping at a point in time…because it’s pretty popular…. But as of 10/16/23 I don’t know what changed… but never again 🗣️‼️ I was so...
Read moreThis was our first time here and probably my last. First, the lady behind the counter had a very funky attitude! She tried to rush us as we were looking at everything (remind you, nobody else was in the line... or in there). I told the woman in a very pleasant voice that this was our first time here.... she didn't care, kept her rude demeanor. I got the chicken, greens and mac & cheese. My mother received the ribs, coleslaw, corn, and green beans. My daughter didn't want anything because she was turned off by the woman aggressiveness. Also, when the guy at register (also didn't speak, nor gave eye contact) open the container and I noticed the lady put cornbread in there. I asked if there were rolls, he says in a funky way (like the woman) "You Wanna Roll?" I said yes, then turns to the rude lady and says, "she don't want this, she want a roll," very condescending tone. The woman says under her breath, "she shudda said that." She didn't give me a OPTION! Hell, I didn't even see any breads! Ok, the food... chicken bone DRY! NO drop of juice, grease, etc! Mac & cheese was awful, I had one bite and never touched it again. Collards were delicious! My mom liked everything on her plate, I'm glad she enjoyed it, because we won't ever go back. And I've always heard how good the food was here. I'd probably would've given this place another chance if it wasn't for the stank attitude ppl that worked there... minus the nice woman with a smile who told us...
Read moreToday was my first time visiting them. I called before I came so that I could double check to make sure Google time frame was correct as far as when it opens and because online I saw lunch food but wanted breakfast. The man that answered the phone seemed agitated that I called. I asked if they sold breakfast and what time they opened. It wasn't a very welcoming call at all. I hung up and proceeded to the restaurant. Curb side wasn't all that appealing but it seemed homey enough and clean once I walked in. There was no crowd and only 2 people inside. There was a small breakfast bar and the food LOOKED good. I got rice, scrambled eggs and conecuh sausage with toast. The rice were cooked well, and were hard to the bite, the eggs also were cooked well but had no flavor or seasoning, the conecuh didn't require any seasoning so it was good and so was the toast. The servers didn't smile and didn't really make eye contact. I was really excited about supporting a black owned business, but this time I was slightly let down. I think more restaurants need to go back to customer service and realize that the way the restaurants are presented and how you treat your customers dictate them returning to support you. Everyday you open your doors you should treat your customers as thought ...
